I already modded my SD1 a couple of times and it works great! But I'm still pretty clumsy. What's solder suck? I have a stick that sucks off solder, is that it?
With the monteallums kit, I got a solder braid, but I had no idea how to use it... it didn't absorb much and it heated up VERY quickly, burning my hands. So I just got back to the solder suck instead of using pliers. Easier

Make sure you buy a "good" solder sucker,otherwise you risk burning through the traces on the board! It's very tedious work and it's easy to screw something up...Take your time but also have the right tools..

Exactly. Desoldering braid is great for this as well. The iron tip doesn't have direct contact with the solder pads on the PCB.

I've seen guys use electrical outlet boxes that were on a budget also...Those Hammond and even the Taiwanese boxes are around $10 or so..

Yeah... problem is, I can't drill it, and none of the hardware stores around it would do it for me. I already have a clean boost I built myself (copy of a EH LPB1 I believe) without a casing
With a plastic box it could be easier though...

You're gonna wanna box up the JCM800 Emulation...LOL. Last time I breadboarded it I had some noise issues but nothing that good shielding can't take care of. Of those that have built it, I haven't heard of any serious issues. Lots saying that it does a great job of achieving that sound.

I've been using this exact tool for alot of years now! Works flawlessly....Just heat the solder enough to melt,and then suck the solder away...Presto,nice clean area around the component and the component almost falls out of the board....

Rid: I actually was GASing big time for an AMT British at one point. They don't sell any AMTs in the stores around here though

A breadboard is a testing bed where you can put components together to make a circuit without soldering them to anything. Just snap them in place. It's an invaluable tool when working with electronics and making your own stuff from a pile of parts.

I've been sitting on this project for several months now! I built like 8 pedals all within about 2 months,then just got involved with other stuff,my Marshall PTP project etc....

I need to finish this project cause the sound samples were really good...Sought of a Matchless tone in a box?

Thanks for that guys! I'll get back to all of you on the SD1 and on as soon as I start on the JCM800. I have the parts list ready, I'll try to find a casing and then start up.

Have you built this one Erik? Seeing some problems with guys getting the transistors dialed in and that it's "bright"?

Would seem weird running another Marshall preamp into a Marshall preamp also? No?
