I bought a 2005 Schecter Diamond Series Gryphon, on eBay, for less than $200 (incl shipping but no case) and I think it's bad to the bone. Do you have one? Do you like it?
I had a Japanese Schecter SD-II-24 in transparent hot pink that was nothing short of spectacular. Not a single thing you could do to improve that guitar!
While in between jobs, I had to let a Hellraiser go that I still regret from time to time. It was an earlier one and I had bought/sold a handful, but that particular one felt and played unbelievably well.
I've also seen some nice C-1 Classic/Elite models and the newer Hellraiser Extreme with the Maple fretboard and Floyd Rose is killer!
I have owned a number of Schecters over the years, from various Hellraisers to the C-1 model (still have a C-1 XXX that I'm putting a Hot Rodded Humbucker set in now) and have had no issues from them to speak of. Good value for their price point IMO.
I had one of the C1 (Was a Musicians Friend exclusive model) models afew years back. I really liked it. I was flipping guitars regularly at that time and moved it on, but would have NO prob buying another if I could afford another guitar
I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a C-1 of some sort this spring or summer. I need a 2x humbucker, mahogany body guitar and they are one of the best values around.
I dont play it much but I felt I saved this Schecter Tempest Special from the graveyard. The guy who owned it wanted to route it for Humbuckers so I bought it. It didn't have pickups in it so I put a set of Duncan Antiqioties P90's in and my intention was to use it for slide in open E but it sounded so good I just left it as is. I have the action high enough that if I want to play slide I can. But those Ant P90s are just killer pickups
Well, fifteen or twenty years ago the US made Schecters were pretty nice. I was working a Summer NAMM booth next to the Schecter booth, and bought this one pictured below from them. It was the prototype and catalog model for a model that never actually made it into production. Not enough demand, I guess. But what a great guitar - one of my guitarist friends called it the ultimate power chord guitar. Ten strings! Doubled like a twelve string except for the low E and A. This allowed for easy drop tuming, and kept the bass notes cleaner. Still sorry I sold that thing. Here it is (or was):
I'm in love with Schecter guitars, I have a youtube channel called SchecterSociety, where I demo guitars for the German distributor. So if anyone wants to see a certain model, that isn't covered by the metal crowd already, just tell me and I try to get it covered.
I've got a couple Schecters. My C1 Hellraiser is my #1 player (out of over 30 guitars I own) and has been ever since I bought it. P-Rails bridge, Fuglybucker neck, both with Triple Shots.
I have wanted to buy one but I am addicted to ibanez and I am buying a Chapman soon so I wish I could buy a schecter but never get myself to. I almost did though but an ibanez came with me.
