Re: any speaker recomendations?

I've read good stuff about the "Tonker" in the Eminence thread of doom.

Re: any speaker recomendations?

Eminence swamp thang. I've been wanting one for my Egnater for a while. It's supposedly great for DRRIs and other fender amps. Fat low end and clear highs. A rather warm speaker but supposedly pretty punchy.

i heard about this.

Re: any speaker recomendations?

Just got a cab with a set of V30's - absolutely blown away by their warmpth and response even at low volumes. Just sound i dont know... happy to be a speaker.

:D

Re: any speaker recomendations?

Sucks that you need the power handling... a celestion blue is way outta the picture.

Re: any speaker recomendations?

Celestion Gold will get you in the tonal ballpark of the Blue...:scratchch

Re: any speaker recomendations?

I've had a lot of experience with these and devilles, the best options i've found are

g12h30/eminence wizard
Weber California
Eminence Cannabis Rex

The h30/wyzzzrrrdd is gonna be your most rockin option. Cleans are still great and it'll take out some of the weird mids. Go h30 if you want speaker distortion, wizard if you don't (I'd go wizard in this amp but it's your call)

Cali (with a paper dome) is gonna be your cleanest option. It sounds good with gain too but maybe has slightly less clarity under gain than the h30, which I kind of like. EQ on these is really, really close to totally flat, with plenty of range on either end

CRex is gonna be the "warm" option, smoky is a good way to describe it, but still relatively clear sounding. This one has the most mids, but they're more orange-ish low mids than marshall-ish middy mid mids.

For your punky screamo kinda indie needs... I'd probably go with the wiz

Re: any speaker recomendations?

Hi Astrozombie ;)

As others have stated, the Alnico Blue is not an option due to a too low power rating for your 40W Deluxe.
What speaker would be best for your Deluxe depends on what style you would like to play with it, and what characteristics you would like out of your speaker.

I am using Celestion Vintage 30's myself (one in the combo, and a 2X12 cab) and I am happy with those, but as said it depends on what you are after, if you are after mainly a clean tone, a Weber California would be a better choice for example.

- maybe - but loud and agressive and hot rods are difficult to get a good clean volume level with.

- yes! Warm and smooth is a good match for the HRD.

-that would usually be a c12n but dont do it man! The spike in the treble will kill you at 20 yards.

ps..have you got a footswitch yet?

The Cannibas Rex is the one speaker that I see recommended for the HRDx consistantly.

No :D i just havent ordered it. I'm also going to order a reverb tank.

The C rex IS the speaker i almost always see recommended for my amp.

eminence wizard? really?

Re: any speaker recomendations?

What about the Swamp Thang? Man, I love that thing. Very warm but with a very clear top end. You get a very full, rich sound, but you don't lose the bite.

Re: any speaker recomendations?

I'm in love with G12H-30's but I'd probably be a little nervous having just one in a 40 watt amp. I vote Wizard. OR the Warehouse Veteran 30 is a great sound too, I like it better than the Celestion V30.

Re: any speaker recomendations?

I'll give a +1 to the Wizard. It's pretty flat EQ-wise, but the highs are crisp and clear. It works even better in tandem with other speakers, but I think it would work perfectly with a Fender.
