Re: Any TACOMA Love?
I have two PK-30's, one Koa back and sides w/ maple top and one that's Koa all around. The former was my first nice acoustic guitar I bought 15 years ago. Extra deep parlor shape, amazingly big piano like sound with newish strings. I saw the all Koa one used at a Guitar Center a couple years ago and had to jump on it, even though I had no practical use for it, and Koa tops aren't as nice as maple top for sound. They also have a wider neck, sort of between a steel and nylon style guitar. Speaking of piano, the piano themes inlays, bridge and headstock are nice. Everything about them is tasteful, they had a "one with nature" sort of aesthetic.
It was a real bummer they went out of business, but I have to admit I never fell in love with their tear drop acoustics. I really wanted to like them for the unconventional looks, but there was just too much upper mids and not enough low end or overall volume produced by that body shape. Their more conventional acoustics are great though, I would buy another five Tacomas before buying a Martin or a Taylor.
