Any TACOMA Love?

Re: Any TACOMA Love?

Haha! Why not? lol

I'm working on acoustic covers to Green Day's "Holiday" and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams"...hard rock/punk/metal/etc. can definitely be acoustified! :D

Guarantee those two were written on acoustic. Love both of those and saw GD on American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown tours.

I believe they were...but they were not recorded as acoustic only...at least not that I'm aware ;) Those would have been awesome tours to see! Green Day is one of my favorite bands musically.

Re: Any TACOMA Love?

It was a very theatrical presentation; not so much as My Chemical Romance's "Black Parade" was but def stayed with the concept of the albums as well as throwing in the classics.

Re: Any TACOMA Love?

Thanks. Love the Koa from which this one is made. Great little guitar. There's a beautiful Nylon String Tacoma at the local MGR for $699.99 in excellent condition. Can't justify 'em all though. ;)

You got a very nice Koa top on that! Want to get a Koa acoustic, really like the Taylor GS Mini in Koa...but have other obligations at the moment.

Thank you. It's actually solid Koa. The E series was known as the Little Jumbo. It's shaped like a Tacoma Jumbo guitar, but is in fact smaller than a Dread. The first letter in the model is the series (P for Papoose or Parlor, J for Jumbo, D for Dread, E for Little Jumbo, C for Chief, R for Roadking) with the next two letters telling you what the top and body are. Most of the Tacomas were topped with Spruce, and that was assumed, leaving DR for Rosewood bodied Dread, or JM for Mahogany bodied Jumbo. Two letters meant a different top. Mine is a EKK for Koa body and top. Finally, the numbers indicated level of trim. The higher the number, the fancier guitar. 40 indicates a very dressy axe, while 55 was about the top. 9 was a very simple model, etc. and, other than ornateness, I can't tell any difference in the quality of the wood between levels. So mine is a Little Jumbo with Koa top and sides, at level 9 trim - little jumbo, satin finish, Koa front, back and sides, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, tortoise shell binding on body and neck, herringbone inlays, 20 frets, full body.

My church's band is sponsored by Koa and all the Acoustic Players have Taylor Koa Guitars...also very beautiful in both looks and sound.

Any tone clips? :bigok:

I'd love to get a Koa Acoustic as well as a Koa Electric; however, after a Roasted Swamp Ash Tele project my next one will be a Roasted Swamp Ash Strat...Koa will have to wait.

Re: Any TACOMA Love?

No; I don't do any recording. Can't blame you on the Roasted Swamp Ash Tele...will look forward to seeing that one.

I hear ya, I hardly ever lay down a track myself.

If you ever get the chance...Roasted body and Roasted neck make for a super light but solid guitar! My Roasted Ash Tele is lighter than my Basswood and Roasted Maple Strat.

Re: Any TACOMA Love?

I love the look of the roasted woods and have a read a bit about the effects of roasting. Personally I prefer a guitar in the 9-10 lb range which is were most of mine reside - Iceman has a Mahogany Body, Tele has a one piece Northern Ash Body and the Pacer Imperial has a Maple Body. The two Gibson LP Studio Raw Powers are the lightest of my guitars.

If you don't like a light guitar then forgo the Roasting ;) ...well, Roasted body that is. lol My Tele body was just under 3lbs (before paint but I went with a super thin nitro, so not a lot added to the weight)

That is funny that your lightest are the LPs. lol

I miss the Northern Ash Strat I had–was in the 9lbs range but sounded so good!

Re: Any TACOMA Love?

That's super light weight. Wow.

Yeah; I find the LPs being lightest a bit ironic as well. They are prob about 8.5 lbs.

Fortunately; I'm not planning on anymore builds at this point. Zero interest in piecing anything together anymore and I'm not searching for anything gear-wise.
