Re: Anybody else have a boner for the new James Tyler Variaxes?
i opened this thread expecting a james taylor signature variax (the thought of which had me puzzled enough to take a look). looks like i need some practice with that whole "reading" business.
Re: Anybody else have a boner for the new James Tyler Variaxes?
Absolutely. I've owned the Acoustic Variax and the first electric Variax. I would certainly do it again. It was amazing in the studio, and saving all of those tunings and the 'virtual capo' thing would be sweet. Plus, it works as a great 'normal' guitar.
Re: Anybody else have a boner for the new James Tyler Variaxes?
Before anybody had heard of them, I kicked it with a L6 employee, messing with them. Ultimately, I'd want the strat version. You can always find an excuse to dismiss them, but I can't think of one single guitar that'd be a better Swiss Army knife guitar than one of those 3.
As a traditionalist, that's always my knee jerk reaction, but these new guitars are no joke. They really are impressive.
I admit, I don't feel a great urgency to run out and buy one, but they are better than you think they'd be. I'm betting that most guys reading this won't ever buy one.....but if you do, you'll be singing it's praises as soon as you spend a week with it.
Imagine a really great guitar on it's own, then adding the digital.....that's why they don't suck...the guitar itself is great, and the modeling is like a huge bonus. Remember, Tyler is like Suhr, Anderson, and Schecter. Similar vibe.
Re: Anybody else have a boner for the new James Tyler Variaxes?
I like how these new models have pickups in them (as opposed to the older Variax 700 et al., pictured above).
Rob Chappers (God bless 'im!) did a demo of the new JTV-59, and asked the Line 6 rep what happened if the battery died, and the Line 6 rep says "you tell me - take the battery out."
Next thing you know, Chappers is ripping it up, Les Paul style, with the battery sitting on his knee.
Re: Anybody else have a boner for the new James Tyler Variaxes?
i think these are really cool
i dont need another guitar ... so these arent likely acquisitions for me
but if i lost all my gear, i'd be tempted to buy one of these - or maybe both the 59 and the 69 (although i wish the 69 was SSS instead of SSH)
Re: Anybody else have a boner for the new James Tyler Variaxes?
The acoustic sounds on the new electric models are supposed to sound a lot better than the acoustic sounds on the old acoustic model. I thought the acoustic variax sounded amazing, so I am curious to try the new models when they end up in stores.
Re: Anybody else have a boner for the new James Tyler Variaxes?
Yeah!
If Line 6's Variax hardware became something that big manufacturers put on their guitars, kind of like how all manufacturers acknowledge the Floyd Rose as the alpha trem, and put them on select models --- that would pretty much blow my mind / cement Line 6 in the history books.
I would love to see a Gibson Les Paul Variax and a Fender Telecaster Variax, built and sold by those companies one day, in my lifetime.
OR PERHAPS I SHALL RULE THE WORLD BY BUILDING THEM
