Anybody Ever Order A Hot or Cool Rails with an Alnico 2 Mag?

Re: Anybody Ever Order A Hot or Cool Rails with an Alnico 2 Mag?

No, I don't think anyone ever tried a CR or HR with an Alnico II mag, seeing as these models only come with a ceramic mag that's bonded to the bottom, making swapping if not impossible, at least a very tricky venture.

Thanks Benjy for answering a question I even posted a thread about specifically asking if the magnet was glued or epoxied and now I know. I think I will sleep better tonight knowing that bit of info :-)

i think the reason that they use ceramics is that i dont think alnico magnets are stable in that shape and size, might be possible custom shop style though. not sure

Another reason we use ceramics on those pickups is because we need a magnet that's more narrow than a traditional humbucker magnet, but is powerful enough to get the right amount of gauss up to the strings.

I hope that helps.

Thanks Evan,

I had a feeling an A2 might just be a bit too weak to be workable, but it was worth a shot.
