Re: Anybody ever try a DiMarzio FRED in the neck?
I had it in a maple-capped mahogany SZR520 (which I don't have anymore). I had it paired with a Breed bridge. Originally, I set the Fred as the bridge humbucker but I needed something with more juice, so I put it in the neck. It definately had that thin, single-coil quality about it. It was a tad blurry/edgy, for lack of better terms, slightly reminicent of the PGn that I had, but with less mids. I would say it was a better neck soloist pickup for my needs than the PAF Pro, but the PAF Pro owned it on rhythm. The '59 owned it for leads.
