anybody know about microphone wiring?

hey guys, i've got this EV pl91 microphone here, but i need to rewire it. It is the typical xlr microphone. When i took it apart, i see a red wire and white wire inside. I know one of these goes to pin 2, one to pin 3, and pin1 is for the ground. Is there supposed to be another wire connecting to pin 1 for the ground? Also, any guesses on whether the red or white is the positive wire?

i would guess that the red would be the positive wire, in which case it would go to pin 2. a good way that you can check if you wired it up right is to align the microphone's capsule with another mic's capsule in front of a sound source (amplifier speaker, whatever it may be). if it sounds out of phase, then just flip the wires around on pins 2 and 3.

i don't believe anything connects to pin 3 on the microphone end.
