Anyone doing hotlrail stickers?

I have this ibanez dt50 project that's been waiting 6 years to get put together so i decided i would just use what ever parts i had here. Now it's all together i have a white sd hotrail in the neck and a vintage creme super 70 in the bridge. The white SD doesn't look right with the creme so i was wondering if anyone does a bobbin sticker for the hotrail? If not i guess i can make one i was thinking i could age it myself but i don't really want to just yet. It was meant to have gold pickups and a black bridge but it will never get done so im going chrome :yell:

SD should of made the hotrail with interchangeable covers :smack:

Re: Anyone doing hotlrail stickers?

You could probably get a colour sample and just paint the top of the pickup around the blades. It might devalue the pickup if you wanted to resell it. It would probably look ok.

Re: Anyone doing hotlrail stickers?

I would have to get a paint that will work with plastic otherwise it will look **** in no time.

Yeah true!
My partner is a painter so I just ask him a lot about certain products - he knows all the chemicals and reactions ect and yeah if it will just peal off. Ive never asked him about painting pickups though.

Is your hotrails the newer one that is completely housed in plastic or is it the ones with the bobbin on top and pickup tape around the sides?

Re: Anyone doing hotlrail stickers?

Hmmm, Maybe i could just buy a dimarzio rain cover and hack up the top.

Did you mean Dimarzio 'rail cover' ?
If that's what you mean, it won't work - the Dimarzio rail pickups are rounded at the edges and the Seymour Duncan ones are slightly square - you should make sure the pickup fits into your pickgaurd ok, you might have to grind the pickgaurd a bit?

Post a picture of your guitar!

Re: Anyone doing hotlrail stickers?

The cream looks really nice!
It will probably be easier to get a white bobbin topper sticker for the humbucker though!
Or you can get a chrome humbucker cover, or those white plastic ones that look like EMGs!

I was thinking it might be easier to change the humbucker, too.

Yeah but it started life in there 39 years ago so i think it should stay in it's home. I can't go white it looks way to bright on the graphic.
