Anyone else noticed this: Vox Night Train G2?

Looks like Vox has updated the Night Train range - the 15 watt model now has an FX loop, "bright" and "girth" channels, reverb and a black finish rather than chrome. It's also available as a combo as well as a head.

I'm also guessing it's going to cost more than the old version.

Yep. Got my eye firmly fixed on that, the Orange OR15 and the Tubemeister 18 as possible options. If I thought the weight of the Laney Lionheart 20H was feasible for me to carry back here, that would be on the list too.

It's definitely the coolest looking of all the lunchbox amps IMO. I can't wait to try it.

Somehow they took cool and made it frostier!

Well, I think this is what we, night train users, missed for a while.
Two channels and REVERB!!!.
A bomb, for sure.

INTERESTING, INDEED.
Thanks for posting it.

I'd have happily kept the effects loop, but discarded the reverb in favour of a half-power switch. If you think you'd keep me from trying one out on that basis though, you'd have another thing coming.

Re: Anyone else noticed this: Vox Night Train G2?

an effects loop should be mandatory on all amps, if for no other reason than to tap into only the power section or send the preamp out to another amp.

Re: Anyone else noticed this: Vox Night Train G2?

I decided while an improvement, the original Night Train suits me better for a lower price.

I never use reverb, I pretty much use the bright channel exclusively, and I don't use the effects loop either. The effects loop would only be of use to me by being able to put an EQ there for a boost, but I can get around that pretty easily. I also like the silver toaster look better.

But this should be a huge improvement for a lot of Night Train fans. Maybe once the G2 is discontinued and $200 like my Night Train 15 was... :D

Re: Anyone else noticed this: Vox Night Train G2?

looks like they made the right improvements

Re: Anyone else noticed this: Vox Night Train G2?

Being a cork-sniffing reverb snob, I would have to say "depends on reverb... I see no spring box"...

That's pretty much why I saw more use in the loop than the built-in reverb, which I understand is a 'digital' feature

Re: Anyone else noticed this: Vox Night Train G2?

Also noticed it's a little larger than the old Night Train, which might make a difference if you like your lunch box as compact as possible.

Sick!
I thought the standby switch worked as in the original: UP = pentoned, middle = standby, down = triode.
So, yes, I'm with you.

Re: Anyone else noticed this: Vox Night Train G2?

I like that. I have a tiny terror ( id rather have the night train) and I greatly miss the fx loop. Reverb is hit or miss but the fx loop is a big deal.
