anyone else wind up SELLING all of thier dimarzio's?

Re: anyone else wind up SELLING all of thier dimarzio's?

I think I'll try a Super Distortion soon :) I've heard nothing but good things about it.
You think Dimarzio's are bad?

Re: anyone else wind up SELLING all of thier dimarzio's?

lol it's funny that you dislike a pickup so much you'll sell every one you own! :laugh2: is there not a single one that does any tones you like??

the ones i tried(breed, tone and air zones, paf pro, super distortion,) sounded
bad to me.
there was something that was UNREAL or UNNATURAL about them?

the virtual paf's sounded normal and natural but these are one of the only well made dimarzio's.
all the others are cheap, overwaxed, over glued glued bobbins, brass baseplates
:smack:

this guy knows what i mean

Re: anyone else wind up SELLING all of thier dimarzio's?

I only have experience with two of them - the superdistortion, which was in a plywood les paul (I really loved that one for what it did) - and the PAF7's which I'm not completely happy with. That PAF7's have their own character, between a vintage and modern pickup, but they're too bright and I don't approve of the ceramic magnet. My guitar has a low A but that does not mean that I'm using it all the time...

i own not a one anymore and wont in the future!

I stopped having anything to do with Dimarzio as soon as I heard of the double cream issue. I literally offered somebody his money back on a custom axe that was supposed to get Dimarzios, but I refused to build it with them when I heard of this. He switched to Duncans without battinng an eye when I told him why ;)

Hey, I'll buy a Zebra Virtual PAF from you guys dumping DiMarzios....
While I agree that Duncans are generally better, DiMArzio makes a few good pups. The Virtual PAF is by far the best (only?) Dimarzio bucker I have ever heard. Sort of like a gritty Duncan Jazz......

Re: anyone else wind up SELLING all of thier dimarzio's?

The only Dmz pickup I had was a Tone Zone, and I gave it away.

Re: anyone else wind up SELLING all of thier dimarzio's?

I've got a couple HS-3's lying around, going unused.

Re: anyone else wind up SELLING all of thier dimarzio's?

I still have a few HS-2's and a PAF Pro in use.

Lying in a box I have an HS-3 and a Super Distortion.

I love my Duncans but I'm not getting rid of my DiMarzio's either. :)

Re: anyone else wind up SELLING all of thier dimarzio's?

Over the years I ended up using more than 10 of them. Now the only one I keep is an X2N, just in case I need super high output! But did not use it for more than 2 years now.

It's all about the right match!
Everybody says that a certain guitar must go with a certain amp,the same applies to pickup's.....a Ibanez guitar just sounds best with dimarzio pickup's in it .I don't think that vai, satriani, paul gilbert, and other great guitarists would be THAT wrong.

Re: anyone else wind up SELLING all of thier dimarzio's?

I've got the Virtual 2 Neck and middle pickups in my Strat. Love 'em. I've got an Air Zone and and Air Classic in my Wolfgang. Love those, too. Great split sound using the inner coils of each pickup combined for a clean tone. I don't care for the Air Zone when split by itself but the Air Classic sound's great when split. I originally tried the Air Norton in the Wolfgang's neck position but did'nt care for it. Very bassey. Then tried it in the bridge positon of my Strat. Hmmm. Not bad at all. The high's can bite a bit but just watch the treble. Took the Air Norton out of the Strat and put in a Custom Custom. Way, way to middy. Those barking kind of mid's. I'm putting the Air Norton back in. Bought a used Tele that came equipt with Quarter Pounders. Great, great for rhythm but that's about it. I'm not slamming Mr. Duncan and company at all because I've heard some of the clips you fellow's have made with Duncan's. Great stuff, guy's. But so far I've had great luck with Dimarzio's. The best is what work's for you and your situation.

I'm not familiar w/ the "double cream issue." Care to educate me? Sounds kinda like a special edition porno mag.
