That has got me laughing like hell.

Re: Anyone ever seen this Epiphone?

Did you ask the guy who bought it for the shop if he had recently taken a bowling ball to the skull?

Re: Anyone ever seen this Epiphone?

Looking at the logo again, it looks like it ends with a capital E, so yeah, Epihon-E

However, the board looks nice in the pics, as does the body. Who knows, could be a sweet player.

We were going to that Pawn Shop to buy guns and I just happen to see that there and couldn't resist the urge to snap a pic.

You guys are all so wrong. I am pretty sure the Epiphone Custom Shop used that logo for a while.

Rats! I missed out on a genuine Epi Custom shop! :smack:

It was done by the pawn shop to justify the $150 price tag. :D

That's a $60-ish no-brand import. Yes, you can see where the original logo was removed.

That is hilarious! :D Lets put a name on it and more than double the price! lol

I know that Epiphone has made a S-style guitar with single-coils, but you really should go big when you buy a guitar. I've noticed that a general $250+ guitar that you see at say GC has better quallity in the build and pickups and can last longer than a cheaper guitar.

I had an Epiphone Strat and Tele and they were great little guitars–I sold them to fund a purchase but I wish I had kept them. The Epiphone Strats and Teles had either the Hockey Stick/Banana or Batwing Headstocks.

LMAO, I can't say I've ever seen that "Epiphone". I don't know what is more humorous: the "epiphone" or seeing that Guitar Hero controller in the guitar section at the pawn shop.

Definitely humorous; however, it is a disservice to guitar hero to put a fraud next to it ;) lol

And yet, darker still is the thought that someone would question the legitimacy of a turd.

Ha! I was posting it as a joke lol ;)

What desperate times are these when men stoop so low as to fake an Epiphone?

Truly, the end is nigh.

Ha! I didn't go into it with them–should've asked though to see hear the story behind it. lol

Re: Anyone ever seen this Epiphone?

I have bought 3 fantastic Yamaha Pacificas for an average of $50 a piece off Craigslist recently. So you can do a lot better than that for $150.

I've had lots of those, all the Epi Strats I ever saw had pointy 80's metal guitar headstocks

Really really bad fake.

Re: Anyone ever seen this Epiphone?

I had a Strat in the same color and a Tele in black–both of mine had the Hockey Stick headstock. I only paid like $200ish for the two of them...sold them for a gain for sure wish I had kept them as they were super comfortable to play and had a great tone (the Tele Pickups I believe were not original but the Strat was 100% original.)

Re: Anyone ever seen this Epiphone?

There were several different headstock over the years, but none the shape of the OP. Most common seem to be Explore or Jackson style. Real one were made in the Samick factory. This link shows them and has good info

Great link!

And I posted the picture as something funny–I honestly know it is not an Epiphone Strat headstock...just thought it was funny that someone would write out Epiphone in pencil lol If you are going to fake it why not go with Gibson rather than Epiphone. lol

Re: Anyone ever seen this Epiphone?

That is a great link. I've had it bookmarked since I scored my S-210 Batwing at the flea-market. One of the cool touches of this thing is that it came from the factory with "Gibson" engraved on the truss rod cover.

I remember a lot of 90's Epi's having the Gibson logo on the truss rod cover

Re: Anyone ever seen this Epiphone?

Yeah. I've seen that too. I'm guessing it was so people could call it a Gibson Epiphone. :D

Oh I thought it was funny, too-I remember a lot of my guitar playing friends turning their Hondos and Lotuses into 'Gibsons" with their sister's nail polish or whatever. Serial killer handwriting in pencil is a new low, though!
