Anyone ever seen this Epiphone?

Re: Anyone ever seen this Epiphone?

What desperate times are these when men stoop so low as to fake an Epiphone?
And yet, darker still is the thought that someone would question the legitimacy of a turd.

Truly, the end is nigh.

Re: Anyone ever seen this Epiphone?

LMAO, I can't say I've ever seen that "Epiphone". I don't know what is more humorous: the "epiphone" or seeing that Guitar Hero controller in the guitar section at the pawn shop.

Re: Anyone ever seen this Epiphone?

Reminds me of a plywood SG style guitar that a friend bought at a yard sale for $10 that had a plastic stamped label on the back of the headstock that said "gibson"

Re: Anyone ever seen this Epiphone?

I remember once I saw in a pawnshop it was like an old kent or teisco or something and someone had painted over the headstock black with a brush then had painted in nail polish "Gibson" on it. The pawnshop wanted 75 bucks for it which was probably on the high side of its value, whats worse to think is that if they want 75 for it that means they gave the schlub who made it 20 bucks.

Re: Anyone ever seen this Epiphone?

Are you serious!?! I can draw the epiphone logo to almost factory specs lol.

Re: Anyone ever seen this Epiphone?

I know that Epiphone has made a S-style guitar with single-coils, but you really should go big when you buy a guitar. I've noticed that a general $250+ guitar that you see at say GC has better quallity in the build and pickups and can last longer than a cheaper guitar.

Re: Anyone ever seen this Epiphone?

Epiphoney

Looking at the logo again, it looks like it ends with a capital E, so yeah, Epihon-E

However, the board looks nice in the pics, as does the body. Who knows, could be a sweet player.

Re: Anyone ever seen this Epiphone?

Ima got to say, I bought an Agile from GC.com and it plays better than my $450 ibanez did. I only paid $210 shipped for my Agile.

Re: Anyone ever seen this Epiphone?

I had one of those as well, their LP copy (the 2500 I think). I had a USA-made LP Standard at the same time, and I have to say that apart from the neck profile (which felt like a mix between a fat D-shape and a hard V closer to the body), the Agile was as good as the Gibson. Had I kept it, I would have put in a 498/496 set or some Duncans.

As it was, I was getting away from the LP altogether and sold both.

Re: Anyone ever seen this Epiphone?

I will say that the neck felt a bit hollow on the Agile. Almost like the truss rod trench was too big and it was rattling around. Got way more resonance through the back of the neck than I should have.

It's neck is a good bit larger than my ibanez neck, but it has a wizard 3 neck on it, however the Agile has sustain for days.

Re: Anyone ever seen this Epiphone?

You guys are all so wrong. I am pretty sure the Epiphone Custom Shop used that logo for a while.

Re: Anyone ever seen this Epiphone?

Letraset manufactured that typeface especially. :D

Seriously, though. The combination of badly applied dry transfer lettering, obvious sanding marks in the decal area and the discernable ghost outline of the original logo in the varnish, is a dead giveaway of fakery.

The headstock outline is faintly reminiscent of "lawsuit" Fernandes guitars. The obvious question then is, why degrade a respectable copy brand by attempting to pass it off as another brand?

Re: Anyone ever seen this Epiphone?

It was done by the pawn shop to justify the $150 price tag. :D

That's a $60-ish no-brand import. Yes, you can see where the original logo was removed.
