Anyone ever try Esquire wiring in anything other than a Tele?

I'm a wondering how this might work out in a LP / SG Junior, Melody Maker or even a Dano

or maybe stick to the Tele and build La Cabronita del Esquire

In case you can't tell I'm fishing for my next project

I was gonna do it with a humbucker in a V, but plans changed. I may revisit that project later.

It'd probably be cool in a Les Paul Junior with either a HB or a P90. I think the P90 would work better. One of my lead guitarists found an Esquire from around 1964ish for around $9000. Says it's the best guitar he's ever played, and now takes it to shows often to play on some softer stuff, where he can take advantage of all the switching available.

I suggest that you take inspiration from the Fender Seymour Duncan Tribute Esquire guitar. (The schematic is on the main website.) That model has a pickup offering two output levels. The switch selects between output levels and tone control usage. No preset muffled mode.

A tapped P90 style pickup offering 8 and 10k output levels could prove very interesting. Custom order, I'm afraid.
