Looking at one that's at a good price by a bit beat up

24 frets. Kinda like a PRS

Anyone have one and want to tell me about it?

Don't have the standard, but do have a DC Studio. Standard has Stop Bar/TOM IIRC, while my studio has a wrap around. Chambered body 490R/498T pickups. Soundwise it's somewhere between an LP and SG, maybe 70% LP and 30%SG tone wise. Mine plays and sounds great.

I don't have one as I don't care for 24 fret necks. But they did a 22 fret version, and I would love to find one of those.

I have owned three of them and still have one. All were made in 1998. I have no bad experiences with any of them. They are light because of the chambering. I mostly agree with "allbutromeo's" comment on tone. I have a '57 Classic in the neck and a Brobucker in the bridge of mine. Not anywhere near as fat as a single cut full size Lester. Not as fat as a PRS McCarty either. I've never compared it to a Custom 24 though. Comparing to my SG, the SG is more focused and biting in attack.
The LP DC has more air to the note if you know what I mean. I've tried numerous pickups in them but have always felt the DC is inherently bright tonally. Custom Custom works well in the bridge but I've had the Brobucker in there for a few years now and really like it.

I've played several. I never could bond with the neck on them. I'm a Les Paul guy but I like the slim taper and the 59 neck. That 58 baseball bat neck does nothing for my short stubby hands and every DC I played had that fat neck.

I don't think we're talking about the same guitar. The 24 fret DC Standards (and the "plus" top models) were produced by Gibson USA and have what is called a '59 asymmetrical slim taper. The neck was bound but the body was not. That neck is thicker than the 60's slim taper but thinner than a '59 rounded, 50's rounded, SG rounded, or the baseball bat Custom shop early 50's rounded. The '59 asymmetrical slim taper was unique to the DC Standard. Later DC's introduced in the mid 2000's had 22 frets, bound bodies but unbound necks. I cannot speak to the neck profile of the Custom shop DC Pro which was the predecessor of the USA DC Standard. The DC Special's with P-90's are usually 60's slim taper but they're exceptions to the rule with Gibson.

Played a bunch and came real close to getting one. Would STILL love to have one. Cool sound/feel/vibe.
