Anyone heard or played an EgnaterSW45?

BloodRose

Professional Scapegoat
Its in the new Sweetwater catalog. Looks like a Sweetwater exclusive. They claim the clean is modeled after a Plexi and the lead channel is a modded JCM800. Hmmmm

It's essentially a tweaked version of the seminar amp... A hot rodded 800. Handwired. Single channel, but has a clean input like an 800. What I see is that it's voiced a lil' brighter and 'classic' than the seminar which is like a 3 gain stage bogner uberschall and deep and evil. EXCELLENT amps.

looks great, general idea seems great. sounds great in this video:

at times, it really reminds me of the beginning guitar sound in a lot of those premier guitar videos (listen to the chords at 4:04 in the above video and compare with first couple of chords in the clip below):

Several months ago, I got a rare opportunity to buy a brand new Egnater Vengeance head for a silly low price, so I grabbed it. I have to say, it's really a cool amp. It seems to have every great gain tone that my Bogner, Marshalls, and Orange don't have. But then, it has a clean tone that's on par with my best sounding clean amps, like Fender, Matchless, Gibson Goldtone.

Overall, I think Egnater is here to stay as a great amp company. For every mediocre amp they have, there's 2 or 3 that are just stellar. I have a feeling history will tell the story of which ones rose to the top in a few years. They'll probably be a company that takes awhile to gain true respect, but it will happen.

They've BEEN here as a great amp company. Egnater has been making great amps for at least 20 years, I think their forray into Chinese manufacturing is finding a wider audience.

Yeah to me there are 2 Egnaters... The production stuff and then Bruce... The production stuff (minus some qc issues) is some of the best out there at that price... And the US Made stuff is flat out top of the heap.

Bruce is very straight foward and doesn't use a lot of hype or mojo parts if they're not really better... That means tgp people can't brag about crystal lettuces.

Cool that this is handwired and all. I just wish it was foot switchable between the 2 channels.
