Anyone here rocking cheap guitars as main players?

Re: Anyone here rocking cheap guitars as main players?

My main player is schecter c1+. I bought it used 7 years ago for $300. Every other guitar feels like garbage to me. Yes, I go to guitar shops and play the insanely expensive stuff. I understand, though, that those guitars do not have my favorite string gauge and what not. Everything is perfect on this axe for me, the belly cut (I like beer), the shape, the balance, the weight, the thin neck, the insanely low action. I have always wanted a les paul, but everyone that I have played has been disappointing. If I got one, it would be purely for status, so I'm probably not going to bother anytime soon. I have to give a ton of the credit to an amazing local luthier (who sadly moved away) for doing the fret dress and setup that made this guitar so perfect and it has lasted for years.

that's how i feel too, I have a hagstrom super swede bought new in 2009 for about 400 bucks because of a price match. I can't find something that beats it, maybe i'm just so used to it by now. I've always wanted a les paul also but every time I play one I always think "the one I have at home is better." Maybe it's the hours of work I've put into it setting it up just right, tweaking here and there, but it's just perfect and dang i can't find anything better... I'm afraid I may only find something better if i spend a fortune on a custom or a larry corsa or something like that. crazy but I guess I can't complain for already having the "perfect" chinese made guitar...

All I have are cheap guitars. I love the Fender Modern Player's tele (retail $399-made in China) and I have the LP studio that Treverous had that arrived with a broken neck..Has a PG neck and a TB5 bridge and sounds awesome! Also use an older Tele???, bought used in 1984 with no name on headstock...Had about 30 dif pickup combos in it. Now has only a very early SD Hot Rails for Strat in the bridge with a brass plate under the bridge and p'up. Rest are all cheaper guitars with mods to make them better!

i got a tokai strat off bill a year or two back and i use only that guitar with one of the bands i play with. its had plenty of work done on it and i might replace the bridge but its a solid guitar, works great, sounds good and plays like butter
