Someone is offering me a Tele for my epiphone firebird and I dont know much about them. He isnt sure of model number but it does have dimarzio twang king pickups in it and a wilkinson bridge. My epiphone is all stock. Was wondering if anyone here has any experience with them or know anything about these guitars.

Re: anyone know anything about Fernandes guitars?

Fernandez was once one of the high-end Japan manufacturers. "Burny" was their brand for Gibson clones, "Fernandez" the brand for Fender style guitars. In the old days all was made in Japan at some of the best factories.

As all Asian brands somebody hijacked the name later and made junk in other countries. So you gotta watch out a little bit.

Fernandez made good stuff until pretty late, at least 1990, and I don't think they ever made outright trash. Chances are that Tele is better than an Epiphone.

The guitar might have stickers or serial numbers.

It should have a MADE IN JAPAN engraved on the neck plate or a sticker at the back of the headstock.

and is that crack into the wood? cause that looks concerning to me.

Re: anyone know anything about Fernandes guitars?

I'm confused. Some pics show maple neck but the headplate pic has a rosewood board.

oh sorry i stole that one before he had sent a shot of headstock as to show what it was shaped like. I removed that shot to not cause any more confusion. how does that crack look to ya? seem to be just paint or think its worse? trying to decide if i wanna drive and hour to meet this guy

seems after talking more to this guy its a fernandes neck on a aftermarket Pine body with a wilkinson bridge and dimarzio pickups.
