Very interested in this guitar and pretty much everywhere i can find reviews for this, they are excellent! Anyone here have or try one?....your thoughts please!

By the way....no music stores around me carry Godin so if i go for this guitar,it will be sight unseen and thats why i`m looking for opinions! Thanks.

Whatever you read, and whatever people tell you, no two players are the same so you really must try a guitar yourself before you pay for it. I know how it is since there isn't much gear in Cyprus either. Unfortunately we have to buy what we can play first. It sucks...

I wanted to buy a Godin as well, but I won't just for this reason.

You are taking a risk by buying it, but if you can sell it on ebay later, I guess it's ok.

Re: Anyone own or try a Godin Detour?

They seem to have a good reputation from what people say and since the Detour isn`t an expensive guitar, not a huge gamble but i like to gather as much info as possible first.....kinda betters the odds ya know!!

Re: Anyone own or try a Godin Detour?

The Detour neck has a pretty flat radius and shorter scale neck (much like a Gibson, but a less chunky). The one that I played was not terribly heavy and sustained pretty well. I didn't like the humbuckers all that much . . . it was a decent guitar for the price.

From what I've seen (we get a lot of Godins here) their quality is very consistent. I haven't played a detour, although I have played most other Godin models, the detour looks tempting and I've been looking for one in the stores. I would have no problem buying one unseen, and if you can find one used you should have no problem selling it without taking a loss.

The radius is 12" and the scale is 24.75 to be exact. The pups aren`t an issue as i have a set of Duncans laying around waiting to go into something! I`m more interested in a good foundation (neck, frets, body) as the electronics and hardware are an easy mod if need be!

Re: Anyone own or try a Godin Detour?

I live not far away from the godin production factory, so we see a hell of a lot of godins around here. I have 3 at my house at the time, but no detour. I have played about 5 of them up to now. Build quality is very steady if you ask me. As already stated, it is like a gibson neck but not as chunky. It's a great guitar, and I would get it unseen. I feel godin guitars have a great feel and play nicely. You might want to change the pups tho...IMO godin doesnt have the greatest stock pickups.

Feeling real good about this guitar so i may just go ahead and order one in the next day or two!!!!

i love Godins axes.... i play the Solidac model a lot and hope to buy a second one soon.. The Detour one is interesting... i did try it out and it didn't blow me away but still a cool axe for the bucks!

The only Godin i`ve seen in person was an old used G-1000 model and it was excellent! I almost bought it but it was a little too beat up, but i can tell the quality was awesome.

I don't own any but all the ones I've tried at the stores around here have been very impressive. Their about the only guitars that seem to consistantly have good setups right off the rack.

I can tell ya most things Godin make are very nice quality items for sure... the Detour model was one that didn't ignite anything for me... i will not put it down as i love to wave the Godin flag whenever i can... I've turned some guys onto Godin's in the past and they could not be happier..

the Freeway models are the same feeling for me as the Detour..... they are very well made with nice woods and craftsmanship but that model is just not right for me... The Soliac is the Godin i love!!!! I love all the Godins with the Mahogany neck!!!! Every model from the LG to the top of the line LGXT.....

The stock PICKUPS in most Godins i love as well.... my Solidac has the same pickups that are in the freeway Classic i think, maybe the same as the Detour.... nice quiet pickups.. I like them..

That`s cool! I really like the simplistic look of the Detour (Strat shape,2 buckers.fixed bridge!)and the price is right as well. I`m definitely ordering one of these (in Black Pearl) in a couple of days!!!!

Re: Anyone own or try a Godin Detour?

I don't think they have a forum, wich is 2 bad. I'm looking forward to pics of your new guitar.
