Anyone own or try a Godin Detour?

Re: Anyone own or try a Godin Detour?

Thanks. Hopefully there will be a gibson les paul studio or sg standard in the photo next time I post.

Re: Anyone own or try a Godin Detour?

Just ordered the Godin Detour today!! Can`t wait to get it.Thanks everyone for helping me decide. A pic of the same guitar that i ordered is in the post right above this one.

welcome to the world of GODIN!... i just love mine to death.... let us know how you like yours when it comes

Re: Anyone own or try a Godin Detour?

*Update*

Turns out the Detour was out of stock and could be up to 3 months wait!!! Don`t feel like waiting that long so i found a great Godin G-1000 on ebay and bought it!!!! The G-1000 is the only Godin i`ve seen in person and is what got me into Godin guitars in the first place. The only reason why i didn`t buy that one to begin with is because it was too beat up! So although i`m not getting the Detour,i`m still getting a Godin and a better one at that!!!

Re: Anyone own or try a Godin Detour?

Link to the Ebay auction with pics? I don't think I know what a G-1000 looks like.

Re: Anyone own or try a Godin Detour?

Awsome! Thats some real godin old school stuff. I love it! Congrats man!

Re: Anyone own or try a Godin Detour?

the G1000 looks nice! One model of Godin i have my eyes open for on the used market is the Godin Signature Strat from the late 90's.... it was basicly a fancy figured maple toped strat.... nice axes.... That model of Godin was only around a few years too and it reminded me of the old Canadian guitar company Signature Guitars.... like the ones Alex Lifeson used in the late 80's

Never heard of that model but it sounds cool! Godin makes some really great guitars and IMO the company is way underrated! I think they need a "major star" endorsement deal or something, but nontheless a great company!!

Re: Anyone own or try a Godin Detour?

I think it needs a strat 2...badly. Wich is why I am taking my sdxt and dropping some emg sa's in the mix ( with maple neck/fretboard and maple body...it should rock). But I still think they should make a good strat model. They are coming out with a 3 single coil model...but it doesnt looks stratish, and it's so glitsy even the guys from kiss wouldnt touch it.

Re: Anyone own or try a Godin Detour?

I think the G-1000 or the G series in general was pretty much a Strat/Fat Strat with a little twist on the body shape....long top horn, short bottom! The only one that i`ve tried had the Strat type of feel and playablity....AND an upper end USA Strat at that!!! Man,i can`t wait to get this guitar!!! Should have it by Friday!!!!!!!!

Re: Anyone own or try a Godin Detour?

when Godin had the strat model out called the Godin Signature in the late 90's it was amazing... it was about $100 cheaper then a Fender American Standard yet was made out some amazing fancy maple and extreme dyed colour finnishes... when they had those strats out i thought for sure they were on the right track for sure... I wanted one bad but by the time i had the money the model was discontinued

I can dig the fact that they want their own shape and models... but ya a lot of players like the classic shapes.... their standard body (LGX) shape is kind of cool.... like a cross between a Gibson and Fender design...

The Solidac model is a winner... the 2 post Piezo trem, the locking tuners, HSH, Maple body, Mhogany neck.... some nice finnishes.... killer for $800 Canadian!!!!

Re: Anyone own or try a Godin Detour?

ps-there is a new version of the Detour style axe out now called the Redline... basicly a single humbucker strat which i have always liked.... i like the looks of this one but still not sure if it would be for me. Still i love the look!

www.godinguitars.com/godinpressredline.html

I am very interested in this new Godin XT model.. it's close to the Soldiac but has a largerbody, a different trem and Piezo preamp, plus a synth pickup... I'd never use the Synth but it looks great

www.godinguitars.com/godinxtsap.htm

oddly my local shop here north of Toronto had some of these XT's in different finnishes then in the catalog... Godin is known to try out different finnishes without any warning... i loved the way the ones looked at the store and now they are gone.... darn..... Between axes like these and Ernie Balls, they are my favourite axes i can afford on the market today

Re: Anyone own or try a Godin Detour?

Good stuff WhoFan thanks!! Yeah,i saw the Redline guitar in the latest Guitar Player mag and it got a great review!!! Single EMG 81 pup in the bridge and 3+3 headstock, very cool!!! I`m not sure if their even available yet but for me,i got (WELL IT`S ON THE WAY!!!) the Godin i`ve always wanted in the first place which is the G-1000. I`m amazed how they can offer such quality stuff at their price point and even on their lower end stuff without any of it coming from overseas!!!

Re: Anyone own or try a Godin Detour?

I played a redline. They are really smoking guitars if you can dig the whole heavy metal sound. Seriously tho, very nice axe.

cool.... the more i look at that XTSA model the more GAS i get.... i love the modern toys on it...... The cool thing about the XTSA and the Solidac is they glue in rigid foam to the trem block.... when you dive with the bar the foam squeezes against the wall of the body... when your bridge returns to playing postion the foam helps stop some of the trem bar flutter from harder struming on a floating trem... amazing system!!!!!!

Let us know if they did that on the G1000 as well....

Nice!!! I will let you know! I think this is the start of really getting into the Godin line of guitars for me as i like just about all their stuff!!! Even their acoustic guitars from Seagull,Art & Luthier,ect...are great!!!

Re: Anyone own or try a Godin Detour?

And the godin multiac acoustic models are insanely good guitars. Just ask Mr. Hammet....he has 2.

Re: Anyone own or try a Godin Detour?

I really like mine! It's the Blueburst 2nd on the left. You don't see too many of these older models around anymore. Mine is a Signature ST-V (5).
