Have not reat the whole thread but my experience - I LOVED the Slashers in my Epi 335 Pro which needed something to tame the harsh natural edge of the faux maple and cheap bridge. The bridge Slash sounded horrible in my 2013 335S, and the pair was a big meh in both my 2014 classic and my 2014 traditional. Couldn't rip em out fast enough.
I'm pleased with regular A2P's, and have felt no need to get the Slash set. I certainly don't want a hotter neck PU. Maybe a Slash bridge with an A2P neck.
Output wasn't an issue, and I prefer lower output pups. They just sound bigger than regular a2ps. Not really hotter. The neck was very clear. The problem was they were bland and despite the output, very unballsy for crunchy chords. I can see them working for someone with an extreme high midrange amp, pedal, and speaker setup like slash....joobies, v30s, and a wah. But they are not for me.
My 59 sets and JB 35th Anniversary came single conductor and my hot rodded set is 4 conductor. I really only care when a Les Paul is true 50s wired because otherwise makes no difference. I don't coil tap.
agreed. I prefered the Slash bridge over the regular A2P and I do like the regular A2P neck pickup
BUT
I love the A2Pneck/59B hybrid. Best. Neck. Pickup. Ever.
I use 4 conductor on every humbucker I currently use, specifically for coil splits. To each their own though.
If you were talking about the NECK p'up, I could understand. But, in the bridge position, where strings almost don't move, there's no technical reason whatsoever for you to think that.i prefer the poles to be centered under the strings because of the strings relationship to the poles magnetic field.
If you REALLY think so, then the rest figurs...i already have a set of chrome covered epi pups in it that actually sound really good that are installed on it now
I meant more so in realtion to whether the pole placement has a big enough effect to be of concern. Since posting that though, I'm guessing it's a volume thing(?)
