Are any Newer metal bands still using 6-String in Drop D or standard tuning?

Just wondering if the 6-string is still relevant in harder styles?

I know that sounds like a crazy question, but everything I see is 7, 8 string.

If the 80s-early 90s are the kind of sounds you're after, then a 6 string in standard tuning or close is what you'll choose to play, I guess.

Yeah, they're still common enough. Among others, Lamb of God. Thrash has also seen a revival as of late.

there are tons. TONS.

MOST bands still play 6 strings actually, but in lower tunings like D standard, C standard etc. Not a whole lot of metal bands play in standard tuning anymore.

Yeah there are plenty of bands that still use six, but like CTN said they will mostly utilize lower tunings. I think that up until their third or fourth record Gojira was in D standard, I think they're in C# standard now.

I wish more bands used Eb standard or drop C#. I always thought jerry Cantrell sounded mean in those tunings. Among others...

Skeletonwitch plays in standard tuning.

Sylosis plays in Standard tuning...and it sounds heavy.

Actually, I think it was a good question.

It's easier to louder, lower or even faster, than it is to be better.

With 6-stringers with floyds, standard E is the way to go. If you want lower go and get a 7-string. Treating the guitar like a bass is ridiculous.

A 6 string guitar already has 3 strings I don't use, why would I want to add a 4th?

(I tune to open B)

Can I have your G string? Don't wash it first.

There's a lot of death metal that doesn't need that 7th string, just better arranging and more effort from the bass player. Drop or standard C is more difficult to account for IMO.

off u see did MRSAge, I m on tapa talk and auto correct is hating on me

Not sure what you mean.

He means that you can record songs that have a faster tempo, are in lower tunings etc. Those things don't mean that the song becomes better with them. Some bands seem to try to take the easy wsy out by making their music more extreme instead of honing their songwriting skills.
