Are Carl Martin Effects Overrated?

Re: Are Carl Martin Effects Overrated?

do you normally point out your observations of others to everyone? explain to me please, what the point of your post is? is it to take sides against me in an attempt to gain favor with others in the forum or is it some other personal rub that you just can't seem to get over? in fact, why bother posting something about me or in reference to a discussion i'm having with someone else? really, what's the point of trying to make me look bad? i am the way i am, so leave it alone. there's no reason to go make light of it every time.

like i said, i'll be nice to those who are nice to me. tell me what part of that is unfair.

I'm refraining for going tit-for-tat here because I think it would be needless overkill.

Suffice to say if I was worried about doing things solely for the purpose of gaining favor with my fellow forumites, my posting habits would have taken a very different turn a long time ago. ;)

And for the record, I'm not taking sides for or against anyone. If you look at my first post in this thread, I was giving Rid a hard time for being cryptic in his response to you, but then you went and got all huffy and drew my attention instead. Sorry. I'm almost as drawn to chips on people's shoulders as I am to bright, shiny things.

All I'm trying to do is let you know that, if you mellowed out and tried not to be so combative about everything that you'd encounter a LOT less resistance around here. Take it or leave it.

Re: Are Carl Martin Effects Overrated?

I want an AC Tone. Christian and I met for lunch just now and were talking about them. Got a spare one lying around you'll sell Rid?

Re: Are Carl Martin Effects Overrated?

Not likely. There are a lot of people no the board in that line of work.

That's what I said too! My theory has always been like this. Show me an IT guy that acts and thinks as if he knows everything and is some sort of hot shot and I'll show you someone that don't know crap!

Re: Are Carl Martin Effects Overrated?

Oh no, drama in the Amp Room! Quick, somebody start an irony thread in Off-Topic before it gets to the seventh page!

Re: Are Carl Martin Effects Overrated?

Bottom line in my opinion is that Carl Martin pedals are nice pedals. Good tones, and built like brick poop houses.

Rid is a stand up guy with great tast in tone whether speakers, guitars, amps, or pedals. If he says something is good I'll believe him because I know where he's coming from. It might not work well for ME, but that doesn't mean it sucks. That seems to be a problem for many people these days. So many seem to think "this pedals doesn't do what I want.....it MUST SUCK!!". Thing is, if someone buys a Red repeat hoping for Echoplex tones they are not going to find them, and if someone wants nu-metal sounds then DON'T buy a plexitone.

The Buddhists have a saying... "He who knows, doesn't know. He who knows he doesn't know, knows."

Re: Are Carl Martin Effects Overrated?

@Luke:
Yeah, see, I'm going with more philosophical crap, because our dear little friend likes it so much. Even those horrible old Maestro fuzz pedals were useful to someone. To me suckitude is not related to how well it works with my music style, but rather build quality. Which CM has. They do what they're supposed to do. If it's not your style, find a different pedal.

Re: Are Carl Martin Effects Overrated?

Rid is a great guy who's been nothing but helpful and VERY nice to me.

The Plexitone is the best overdrive pedal I have tried. I'm not talking about sound (that's all subjective) but it's the most harmonically riched, balanced, well built, and overall USEABLE pedal I have ever played.

Rid was being mysterious about high gain because you'll find there's way less gain used in say, Scorpions, than say, Children of Bodom. Yet they're both metal bands, or at least I think so. Carl Martin don't target the later types of metalheads, they seem to more go for the professional crowd who need fully useable, great sounding boxes of tone. Rather than a box of genre ;)

This being told a Plexitone has a lot of gain on tap. Just not a very uber metal of dewm voicing overall.

Sorry for feeding the troll ;)

Hehe no, only got a prototype here at home, the first real one that is..not gonna sell that one!
Dunno there should be a few overthere by now, should not be too hard to get a good deal one then?"?
Thanks for the nice words guys!

You need to relax a bit. You asked a simple question and got some simple answers and that didnt seem to sit well with you. Then you got pretty abrasive pretty quick. Gernerally , one who asks questions should be thankful and polite for answers even if its not exactly what he was after.

Re: Are Carl Martin Effects Overrated?

Barbarian, I think people are getting upset because of the approach you're taking with your posts. You have a lot of fire in you, and that can be good or bad, depending on what you do with it. You ask some good questions, but I think sometimes you may be misinterpreting others' responses. Lots of people on this forum are curt with others or make jabs, but it's usually meant in good humor (at least initially). If you can, try not to take things too personally at first. For the most part, people are here to help. Nobody really wants to fight you, bro. Keep it chill. You ask some good questions and have good info to offer other guitarists. That's what it's all about. You're a good guy -- try not to let anger get in the way of all that.

Rest assured, no matter what name you're using, everyone will still realize that you're a troll.

Seriously, you say crap like, "I'll be nice to anybody who's nice to me" then act like a complete a-hole to anyone who even looks in your general direction. How exactly do you expect to be taken seriously?
