Re: Are these Seymour Duncan 59s?
I'd love to know more about this era as well.
From my understanding Seymour Duncan had their own humbucker bobbin mold made in mid-late 1979.
So I'm guessing these labels and a blank backing plate are from late 79 to 80-81?
This is also assuming Duncan did not use other parts to assemble humbuckers prior to 1979.
When did the stamped name in the back plate start?
I have a few early Duncan's that I'd like to know the meaning of the red and yellow "dots."
The labels and dots are all under the wax.
This was my timeline, but i have no proof for it.
1. no backlogo, small tag without winder initial from late 70 up to ?
2. no backlogo, small tag with winder initial from ? to 1983
3. big backlogo without MiA, small tag with winder initial from at least 1983 to 1988
4. small backlogo with MiA, small tag with winder initial from 1988 to 2002
5. small backlogo with MiA, large tag with SN and Model from 2002 to ?
6. small backlogo with MiA, large tag with date from ? to ?
That would mean no backlogo before 1983??
