Are vht cabinets reliable

looking at the vht standard with birch and two celestion G12H30s.... are they decent build quality and how do those celestions sound? im playing lots and also some cleans.... how does it sound whats it like? any other suggestions?

The thing you want to look for, IMO, is a plywood cab, not MDF. I don't think the MDF holds up well "...on the road". So if you are taking out of the house to gig, get a plywood cab.

The problem is, with many manufacturer's, you have to do a bit of reading between the lines in their catalog, so if it doesn't SAY specifically that "...this cab is plywood," or "...all our cabs are plywood," (like Mesas), they will probably be some form of pressed sawdust, and not road-worthy.

I am quite convinced Mr. Fryette would never put his name on a cab made of dried cow pat.

Beware though, because he sold the rights to the name VHT years ago.

The new AXL-owned VHT makes "high grade birch plywood" cabs with finger jointing, in both open and closed back varieties. Much like AXL guitars, it's uh...less boutiquey or cork-sniffy, but it's put together with quality-for-price in mind.

thanks, i might pick one up... im only really bringing it to my drummers house for practicing cuz im tired of using my crappy roland solid state...
