Are you a bridge or neck pickup guy?

Re: Are you a bridge or neck pickup guy?

Bridge, I'm not too much of a solo guy and am also too busy to be flicking a switch in the middle of a song. To me perfect guitars have just a bridge pup and a single volume.

Re: Are you a bridge or neck pickup guy?

I'm a bridge Bridge guy, tone pot is disconnect and volume 90% on 10 and lwoer for some lighter stuff.
I now use the bridge split somtimes for get other sounds but for the most things itsS too "twangy" ;)

Re: Are you a bridge or neck pickup guy?

I use the neck position about 75% of the time, neck and bridge or neck and middle about 15% dof the time, and the bridge only for hard rock/metal leads and distorted rythms.

Re: Are you a bridge or neck pickup guy?

i tend to use the bridge alot fo the time, as my bridge is equiped with a hot rail. I tend to use the stock neck single coil pick up when i need some nice cleans i love using it for cleans and playing anything that does not involve heavy distortion. So id say 75% of the time im on bridge, 25% of the time im on the enck pick up thats a single coil. The middle is worthless to me to be honest never use it.

Re: Are you a bridge or neck pickup guy?

i use both pretty evenly.
sometimes i even switch pickups in the middle of a phrase to get a certain sound.

for example doing a wide arpeggio and then when i reach the top move to the bridge position and bend. the result is a smooth arpeggio sound with a biting bend at the end- sweet :D

Re: Are you a bridge or neck pickup guy?

I mostly play with the bridge especially now i've got a custom there but i like the neck singlecoil for cleaner or slightly OD'ed blues type playing although my coil tapped custom is quite good for some of that. The stock pup was crap tapped. I will probably get a lil59 soon and will probably use the neck pup more then.

Re: Are you a bridge or neck pickup guy?

it kinda depends on the song, or what kind of sound i'm wanting, but normally i use the neck pickup for clean stuff and leads, and bridge for rhythm/sometimes leads

Re: Are you a bridge or neck pickup guy?

I used to be a big bridge pickup abuser. In the last year or so, I have been using the neck pickups alot more. They sound alot sweeter and toneful in my mind. I still have to use the bridge when the distorion is cranked though. The neck dosent cut it in that situation.

Re: Are you a bridge or neck pickup guy?

Neck (unless using my one pickup Charvel, lol)

Re: Are you a bridge or neck pickup guy?

In the Schecter, the bridge when distorted, and split when clean. The Jag, mostly neck, neck through the rhythm circuit, or combined (the best clean sound in the world). The jag bridge pickup is too thin and twangy for most stuff. Been experimenting more with the neck on the Schecter, which is why I'm considering a Duncan for the neck, if I had more money.

I almost always use the neck pickup. Very, very seldom do I use the bridge pickup by itself.

Re: Are you a bridge or neck pickup guy?

all neck all the time! I also like pos 2 and 4 on my strat, and the bridge is used sparingly for heavier chording. But all neck! Strat neck pickups are very versatile on their own, they bite and they're soft and warm at the same time!

Re: Are you a bridge or neck pickup guy?

isnt it funny how the neck is named the rhythm pickup and the bridge lead? It's the other way around for most people!

Re: Are you a bridge or neck pickup guy?

I use the bridge pickup most of the time. I can't find a good sound out of the neck pickups in my guitars....maybe I just need new/better ones.

Re: Are you a bridge or neck pickup guy?

To answer the question: Yes.

I use all of my pups. In the Nitefly, each pup has a distinct tone, and I use them as needed. Also, the tone control is very sensitive in this axe, and rolling it 1-2 notches makes an identifiable tonal change.

On LesStrat, the tone is either on or off (no discernible changes in other positions). LS is wired for coil-splitting (thanks Robert_S and Jeremy), so there's, three, six, ten, uh...................LOTS of pup choices.
