Are you a Vintage 30 person?

Depends. Love them in the right closed back cab but hate them in a small open back cab or combo. Also depends on the amp. I can't imagine anything sounding better with my first gen Archon head in my PRS 2/12 deep cab than Vin 30s, but absolutely HATED the V 30 that came in my Mesa F 30 combo!

i have a g12m in a heavily musicmaster bass amp, it sounds fantastic! i use a g12h-30 in my '66 deluxe reverb and it also sounds fantastic. i have a v30/g12h-30 pair in my fender vibroking 2x12 closed back cab that sounds great. i have a v30 in my badcat cougar 50.

so yes, i am a v30 person, but also a greenback person, and g12h person. and thats just for celestions :D its all about pairing the speaker to the amp.

i its all about pairing the speaker to the amp.
This is spot on! It's all about what combinations work with what amp or cab. Love the V 30 in a larger closed back cab for an open back combo I'm running mostly WGS. The ET 65 in my Zinky Velvet and a Retro 30 in my F 30 Boogie, but have an old early 90's Celsestian GT 75 in my PRS Sonzera 20 combo. It's all about what works best where.

I have several flavors. One cab is V30s, one is greenbacks. I have a 1x12 with a Heritage Greenback (the Hendrix one that was for Bass cabs and went down to 50hz? Can't remember exactly.). Also have an 80 somewhere.

V30s do the 90s. The 80 does the 80s. Greenbacks do everything else.

I like V30's recorded. They're kinda that sound. Honestly, my favorite cabs to mic up are Mesa Recto cabs with 8 ohm V30's. But I suppose people are gonna complain that everyone is using that sound and bla bla bla. FWIW, I think 16ohm Marshall Vintage speakers in 4x12 cabs mic up great too.

In the room, I do prefer 1960V cabs than Recto cabs. Both more aggressive and more full-range. But I also like 4x12 cabs with Greenbacks.

But just because a cab has V30's or Greenbacks doesn't automatically mean I like it. I don't like Orange cabs, for example. In the room, I can live with them. But I prefer to avoid mic'ing them if I have any other choice, honestly.

I don't have a V30 cab, so I guess not, by default. I really like the Eminence P50E speakers in my VHT 4x12 with every head I've tried. My other 4x12 is a Peavey with Sheffields and it's harsh and kind of fizzy recorded, but it cuts through and sounds great in a live band mix.

I have one V30 in an open back combo paired with the WGS Veteran 30. It sounds great in that. (Carvin Belair)

I have several Eminence 100 watt 12s various versions

Yeah I'm a V30 guy
But like 80s Thrash metal said
I like a lot of speakers

I been checking out some 200 watt bass 12s on zilla cabs videos

They sound awesome for guitar

FWIW, I also tend to like the small dustcap Celestions better than the large dustcap ones. I like almost all of the small dustcap Celestions I've tried, honestly. I also prefer the M magnet ones compared to the H magnets with the exception being the V30.

But yeah, my favorites are either the Mesa or the Marshall versions of the V30 along with the Chinese Greenback reissues and the EVH/Heritage G12M's.

I also have a Celestion Gold in my Krank 1x12... but it's hard to judge a speaker in a 1x12 as I tend not to prefer the tone of 1x12's. I'd love to hear it in a "real" cab.

I love a v30 in a closed back cab. I don't like them in an open back cab though. I have played through a few greenback cabs and liked them, but haven't owned one for long enough to form a solid opinion on the speaker.

I'm also a Greenback fan

That said, I like the G12T-75's in my 1960. The pair splendidly with my Mesa Stiletto, which is fairly bright.

I like them, but for me it is hard to separate the sound of the speaker from the amp they are usually in. I mean, in a way, it is the speaker for classic rock. So many great recordings out there.

With the right amp, yes. My old Orange OR80 sounded great witht them. My modded Marshall stuff sounds good too with them, but I much prefer my Greenbacks or G12-65s with my Marshalls.

If they're backlining cabs though I don't complain if there is a V30. Just don't really like that they are now kinda homogenized and worshiped.

I absolutely am. Best speaker ever for metal -- loads of mids in the right places, bottom stays tight without being absent, top is powerful but not papery or ratty, and it stays fairly undistorted under high power (which is a good thing when you need articulation under a ton of pre-amp distortion). It doesn't sound distant like the T75, it's not muddy like the P50E, and it holds together better than the Greenback.
