Arghhh! Seth Lover Sounds d@#$

I don't think it's the pickup. I took the guitar to have someone that was recommended replace the neck on my AS153 with the Seth. When I picked it up he told me that he incorrectly connected the wires to the 3 way switch on the guitar (it's for the neck pickup). One of the toggle positions doesn't work and the other two sound worse than the stock pickup (which wasn't all that bad). Anyone informed enough about this three way switch to tell me what impact improper wiring might have?

It will help if you post some pics of what you have. There are diagrams on our site (under Support) that show the correct wiring for many 3-way switches.

When you say pics of what I have what are you referring to.

Pictures of how the pickups are soldered to the switch.

Ah. I’m not going to open it back up. I’m a monster with mechanical and electric things. I’ve also not messed with semi hollows before.

Re: Arghhh! Seth Lover Sounds d@#$

if the tech didnt do it right, bring it back and make him fix it!

Re: Arghhh! Seth Lover Sounds d@#$

I hear ya but I don’t trust him anymore.

Understandable! Even if he is not skilled he should have known it was jacked up and did it over before letting you pick it up.
It is a relatively easy fix, you just need to find someone who can read a diagram and follow it.

Re: Arghhh! Seth Lover Sounds d@#$

Well, something is wrong, that probably isn't the pickup's fault so we have a few options. Take it somewhere else, or learn what he did wrong and fix it.

You don't need trust, you need proof, and the proof is in the pudding, so... bring the guitar to fix and just stay there until it works as it should. A baseball bat might help the "trust" issue. ;)

Peter has a point, despite what I said. He can't mess it up any worse and unless he is a total hack or a moron he should be able to move a couple solder connections and make it right.
Don't take a baseball bat, though. Take a witness. Someone who exudes authority and good sense, if possible.
