Artietoo web page

Re: Artietoo web page

I just looked at his site. Anybody know where Artie lives? There doesn't seem to be any indication on his site. Indiana, Iowa, some place like that? He seems like he'd be from one of those "I" states.

Did you manage to get into his site?

Re: Artietoo web page

Actually No, I didn't. I just got the page with all the Idaho links. Idaho Fishing, Idaho Skiing, Idaho, Idaho, Idaho...

*"Ida is a Ho" joke deleted due to compliance with the, recently enacted, Lame Joke Legistation. I blame Saddam.

Re: Artietoo web page

artie mentioned his father in law being very close to death in the last week or so ... i think he is consumed with that and hasnt been around the forum

prayers of strength and comfort going out to the SDUG mad scientist and all those struggling with that sadness

oh, artie lives in FL, iirc

Why are you guys looking for Artie? Has he not logged on here recently?
Not looking for artie but if you try to open his web site you get a page with a load of Idaho links...nothing to do with guitars.

Re: Artietoo web page

Artie lives in Jacksonville, FL. Maybe his domain registration expired on the .com, and someone else picked it up?

Re: Artietoo web page

bingo, I was right. Put your mouse over the "why am I seeing this page" link in the top right, and it opens up an email to someone with the preset subject as "Inquiring about the domain "artietoo.com", with status: Expired".

Re: Artietoo web page

Uh, oh..
I'm building a project based on one of his diagrams and of course it's now gone- Why didn't I save it?

Oh well, may have to come back to you guys to see if I can reconstitute it down the road-

yea, he's been real busy doing wiring diagrams for ppls christmas light displays. He'll be back with us after the season passes.

Re: Artietoo web page

I had noticed that he has been absent and that one of the diagrams he did for me a while back was down now. Didn't know about his F-I-L. Sorry to hear about that.

Re: Artietoo web page

Hi all. Thanks for the kind words regarding my father-in-law. Let me give a brief update as to whats happening right now.

My father-in-law's heart is only working at about 30%. So other organs are failing also. He's at a stage where he could go tomorrow, or linger on for weeks, or months. He's always been fairly strong with a good will to live. Unfortunately, he lives in North Carolina. My wife, and her brother and sister, keep making trips up there and back. Since our little Neon was in deteriorating condition, we had to replace it with a newer car, so she could make the trips. All of that adds up to an unusual financial load we've had to bear here lately. We can handle it, it just makes things tight. Add to that, the holiday season, and there isn't much left over for things like domain name registration.

I hope to have everything back up and running by the new year. Joelap was correct. What you are seeing is the generic page that my domain company puts up when a name has expired. I know I've left a few folks hanging on wiring diagrams. I hope to get caught up soon. Thanks for everyones consideration and thoughts.

I'll try to pop in here off and on as I can.

Artie

Re: Artietoo web page

Well Florida does have an "i" in it so, I wasn't totally wrong; only about 98%, which is an improvement for me.

Sorry to hear about your father in law, and the financial burden. Where in NC does he live?

Re: Artietoo web page

Artie, you are without a doubt one of the coolest, most helpful guys on this forum, and I am sure I speak for everyone when I wish you and your family the best in this difficult time.

If you'd like someone to host your diagrams until you get your domain renewed, I can certainly do that. Send me a PM (I will send you one as well).

Thanks, and take care.

Re: Artietoo web page

So sorry to hear about the F-I-L, Artie.

How much does it cost to register a domain, anyway? Jes' wonderin'.

Thanks LesStrat. Registration doesn't cost much, but there's a "twist" in my case. I am the registrant. I run a very small web hosting company. Or at least, I was trying to at one time. I haven't gone public yet, but just have a few friends and family as "cutomers" 'til I learn the ropes better. The irony is, I can't just renew a single name. I have to "re-charge" my registrant account, which is, (I think), around $100. Its not a big deal, just something I'll take care after the holidays. I have the "master" domain I can move things to, I just haven't had the time. (It would require editting all the links in the forum.)

Again, I appreciate all the kind words. Thanks guys. :)

Artie
