Hello,
I am new to the forums here, so hello world!
I have a guitar, which I love, but it is not expensive, it is actually very cheap. However, I LOVE the way it plays, and while I have more expensive guitars, they already have great pups so I am looking to upgrade my $100 workhorse.
The guitar is a Silvertone SIK-1. Yup, plywood body, cheapo tremolo, but it has a great neck and I love the way it plays for me. Like I said, my other guitars, like my Ibby Prestige and my Charvels, already have GREAT pups, so I am shopping for the guitar that needs the love.
I got into guitar mostly because of Eddie Van Halen. Know and love all the songs, first concert I ever went too, etc. So, the bridge is a natural selection of the Custom Shop 78 for me. I want to try out the Custom Shop since so many people say how good they are, so I will spend extra to see for myself. Now, the part I don;t know is what to put in the bridge, and the middle, Both are routed as singles, and the pups bolt right to the body, no pickguard. I would like a humbucker stacked in the neck, but I can and will route it would in needed to fit a humbucker. I don;t know what I should put in the middle. The idea behind getting all at the same time is so that I can get them "matched" or calibrated, or whatever they do to make the set sound wonderful together.
Suggestions appreciated, I emailed already to see what I am told, hopefully I can buy direct? I also would like to omit the logo, so when people see and play my Silvertone, they are blown away by the $100 guitar.
FYI - I need a Trembucker, I upgraded the bridge to a TremKing with the F spacing.
