Audio taper

I just wired up a guitar using the schematic below, and the taper of my volume pot seems to be backwards. That is, turning the pot a little ways from 10 causes a dramatic decrease in ouput. To fix this, do I just switch the wires connected to the outer lugs?

Switching the connections at the outer lugs will reverse the direction you have to turn the pot to reduce the volume.

Audio pots use a logarithmic rather than linear taper, but neither type should cause the dramatic
volume reduction you describe.

My guess is your pot is defective or damaged from too much heat applied during soldering.
