Re: Awesome find!- NM 1957 Goldtop with case candy

I was able to see the pics. Not a member, but often search old threads with google. I've always wondered how people get this lucky with rare and cool finds. I use to hit up garage or yard sales to hope and find a rare guitar... Never found squat haha.

Nice guitar, buuuuut:

IMO, if it's on MyLesPaul, it's probably BS. That place is a scammers' paradise chock full of jagoffs.

Re: Awesome find!- NM 1957 Goldtop with case candy

Don't get how a lady who never married would have held onto a vintage Les Paul, if it was hers are where it came from. It was top-wrapped with flats; sounds like it was intended as a Jazz box. Would be interested in the whole back-story.

He is a well known vintage dealer.

If you read through the entire thread, there are more details. The guitar has already been sold to someone overseas. My guess is Japan. But it is just a guess.

Bitter about being banned much

That is a find of several lifetimes. Only read through the first page, he says the lady "wanted" six figures. Wonder what he ended up paying.

Re: Awesome find!- NM 1957 Goldtop with case candy

The mods on MyLesPaul forum are either too drunk or too stupid. Too much craziness sometimes over there.

Re: Awesome find!- NM 1957 Goldtop with case candy

Yeah, that's your generic response to anyone who tells the truth about your crappy forum, isn't it? I've seen you pull that one before. :naughty:

Why don't you join our forum so we can discuss this and other items without getting off topic here? I'll be there...

guitaramped.com Topic: mylespaul.com

You actually think I'm the owner of MLP:smack:

i never had a problem at MLP. however, the gear page mods are idiots and are quick to ban. i was banned for making fun of someone's mazda miata. i think i called it a woman's roadster. anyways..

Re: Awesome find!- NM 1957 Goldtop with case candy

Did Gibson do their fret end nibs differently back then?

A lot of things about this story don't make sense. I'm not necessarily saying it's a scam or a lie, but it doesn't make sense.

Re: Awesome find!- NM 1957 Goldtop with case candy

Yes, old nibs are different. They are not like todays Nashville production nibs.

Also, as the frets got bigger in 59, so too did the nibs.

Good eye. :smokin:

Dude says,
It's one of the few chances to see EXACTLY what a 50's Les Paul looked like as near new as possible.

That guitar should have fret end nibs... standard Gibson practice even in 1957. It doesn't.

That means at best, it was refretted. So for being looking "like as near new as possible", dude's statement doesn't add up at all.

(That nut looks suspicious too. I'd love to see the truss rod... and other items... :nono: )

Re: Awesome find!- NM 1957 Goldtop with case candy

And I don't think MLP is any worse than here or anywhere else for moronic activity.. It's just they have alot more traffic, so percentage of sightings is bound to go up. I find the vast majority of people respectful.

Try Zooming the pics- the nibs are there.

I'm seeing alot of the behavior you are complaining about over there, right here in this thread.
