It is, essentially, an all-maple guitar with an ebony fingerboard. Compared to a regular ES-345/-355, the Lucille errs on the bright side. The Vari-Tone circuitry can be useful in recording situations.

I've seen the switch for the circuitry on a few youtube clips/vidz, interesting.
I have always enjoyed his lessons and jams.
Makes everything seem easy and doable. Always produces great tone out of his guitar.
I don't know/didn't know much more about his actual guitar until recently.

Tried one YEARS ago...what I remember most is it weighed a ton, and sounded bright. Sorry but thats all I got

The "Lucille" doesn't have any F holes either. Joe Perry also plays a modified one which he calls "Billie".

IMO, it's hands-down the best thinline semi-hollow that Gibson (Epi too) have ever made, and has been since they first introduced it. That's due to the fancy 345/355 binding, the 355 block inlay, the Vari-Tone, the stereo outputs (something I love, though many do not), and the lack of F holes. Just change out that ugly truss rod cover and tailpiece, deal with the headstock inlay, and you have a great guitar with tons of cool features that's sexy as hell. I hope to get my hands on one of the emerald green ones some day.
