So after alot of looking around and trying out guitars, I've decided my next guitar will be on of the following, I just have to decide which. Input appreciated.

Hamer USA Studio
Les Paul Traditional
Carvin CS-6
PRS Sc 245
Godin Icon 2 Convertable
Larrivee RS-4

Thanks!

After playing several traditionals, I have to recommend one. They have the classic looks that I like so much, and all the features you need and none that you don't (unless you count binding and flame maple). They're not perfect, but the good ones are worth it, for me.

I specifically like the Trad Pro, for the SlimTaper profile.

The SC 245 looks great too, kinda pricey.

The hamer seems like the neck would be too flat for my taste, what are those 14.5"?

So which one had the best feeling neck, outta the ones you played?

I'd buy whichever one tried to cop a feel when I walked by them at the store.

My favorite neck of all time is probably the PRS wide/fat, but I'm pretty lenient about the necks I use. Chunky to medium, as long as it's not shreddirific.

if the PRS SC you listed in the poll has that neck, I'd go for that one.
Go for the one with the best neck and frets, that's about all I can say at that point. IMO on a set-neck guitar, if you like how it sounds, the neck feel is most important after that.

Something to consider, fer sur. I noticed you've got a tweaker listed in your gear. I've been meaning to try one. How's she sound?

It's good but it has me gassing for a DRRI. Because it gets like 80% of a traditional fender tone, 70% of a vox tone, and 80% of something like a old-school marshall tone, it's like having 3 quite good but not the greatest amps. It never sounds bad, but I'm looking for some of "the Fender tone" as I hear it in my head.

I like it and can recommend it for versatility, but I'm ready to trade my "3 good amps in one package" in for "one great amp"

i think you need to pick a scale length, but you can't miss with those options surely

You should try the Fender Mustang III.

All Fender sounds are so close in tone AND feel that it's scary.

Plus, you get other models that you may or may not like, but they're all useful.

Yes, it's a modeler and this advice comes from one of the nastiest tube snobs to walk the face of earth... me! ;)

I'm changing the II with a III because the lack of tweakability from the front panel. The sound is nothing short than stellar, specially considering the cost, which is next to nothing. I've programmed some great presets using the FUSE software.

HTH,

Re: Beating Out a Les Paul? (poll)

^ not even close to the same thing

Les Pauls aren't shrinkwrapped in plastic like Paul Reed Smiths are ;)

Re: Beating Out a Les Paul? (poll)

if the headstock doesn't break like a REAL LP then don't buy it.
