Behringer V-tone modelling amps

I was really impressed with the sound of the GMX10 I played yesterday...It blew away the Marshall MG and AVT's I tried and I think with a 12" speaker would easily rival or surpass the Bandit II. No it's not tubes, but a very good simulation (sounds much better than the digital simulators to me). I dialed in classic Fender sounds, hotrodded Marshall sounds, and Classic Boogie high gain very easily. The cab simulators REALLY work well to give a big stack sound at low volumes.

They have a 2x12" 100 watter...for...get this...$279 bucks! I musta read 100 reviews last night on the net (including Guitar Player Mags) and 90% of them are very positive for sound quality. Seems to be alot of bang for the buck (I'm not concerned with the lack of adjustability on the FX), especially for home practice, casual recording and jamming with friends.

I'm off to Guitar Center today to try one as well as some other amps. But was curious if anyone had any experience with the Behringer, good or bad.

Re: Behringer V-tone modelling amps

I compared them with the POD XT, POD 2.0, and Vox Tonelab. The Tonelab won easily IMO. So I got it. Check out the Vox, you won't be sorry. It has the leasy amount of "digital" sound to it.

The V-tone amps are analog though. I believe the models you are referring to are digital , barring the tube in the tonelab.

Thanx for the input everyone.

Jeff, I own a GMX212 and I agree with you. Mine still has Jensens (now they're made with crappy Bugeras), and with two of them it can blow a hole in my room's wall... :) Concerning sound quality, it's not on par with Tech21's Trademark series but beats most digital modelers I've heard, including the Vox. That's only my taste and my opinion, though.

Thank you for the comments. I was very impressed with the V-tone GMX212 yesterday. If I cannot work out the issue I'm having with the Valvetronix ("dark" sounding, and there is no presence control), I may just be returning it for the V-tone.

Re: Behringer V-tone modelling amps

i own a Beringer V-Ampire and I think i love it more than any other amp (up to like $1,000) that i have played, because I can get like any sound i need, and a lot that I don't. the effects are great too. everyone that hears or plays it has only good things to say.

Re: Behringer V-tone modelling amps

I'm learey of the reliability of Behringers. I personally know two guys here in town whose amps failed within a couple of months of (admittedly heavy) use.
