i think i´ll need a small Hybrid or SS amp to play Live and MAYBE rehearsal with band etc.
and to practice at home too.
so, I was thinking in a marshall , 45 or 40 watts. Valvestate series.
should i avoid it or get one?!
i need a loud amp, but i can´t pay too much, and i don´t need a 60 watts amp, max 50 watts amp.
or any other amp..
what do you guys think? whats the best?
Tight bass, crunchy mids, sweet highs..
compressed overal sound.

gree, but i´m talking about a new amp. do you think i´m crazy to bring the amp one of the crap produced shows here in brazil? and risk fo burn it all?

i cna´t play a 5150 al the time you know. lots of output.

So wait... you get a 5150 half stack that you'll almost never used?

40 or 50W solid state or tube? And there's no real discernible volume difference between 40 or 50W man... Especially as far as SS is concerned (where headroom depends on the circuit and not the wattage) it's no biggie.

I like the Peavey Transtube series. They do NOT sound tube, but have a mean distortion that sounds pretty good.
Otherwise I'm not too familiar with SS amps man sorry.

The valvestate sucks imo... the best SS amp I've played was the Peavey XXL maybe look into Randalls too

40-50 Watt SS is not enough with a thrashing drummer imo

The point of a good amp, like a 5150, is because it is made to withstand the rigours of playing live.

the 5150 is a tank...
but i think he's more concerned of it being stolen?

install some electro shocks, it wont change the amp at all.

the randall is a good option, bu i guess we do not have this easy to buy in brazil.

ed a small practice amp, cause i can´t use the 5150 all the time,with all that output. and i´ll not buy a hot plate YET. also, to bring the amp here and there , will probably damage it, so i preffer to buy a little SS, to fill in some of those Not important moments where the 5150 is not completely required.. little rehearsals, home practicing, and some live gigs here in my own town.
is it better now?

A 5150 sounds perfect at rehearsal volume! So theres no problem about output I think!

Dude you want to break a 5150? Roll over it in a tank, but if you want to gig, you shouldn't worry too much man. If you're that worried, take out the tubes after each gig and place them in their protection (When they've cooled down).
And I don't get what you mean by output either. Too loud? Eh well as been said there's a master volume man... If it's still not it, get a hotplate?
I really don't get it either.

i´m affraid of it being stolen, and to suffer any damaged, cause in all these shows, there´s no Good Grounding AT ALL, and the energy always sweep from high to low voltage. that can kill my amp.

If you have power regulation problems then you need a power regulator to keep things constant. That's what they're for.
It's understandable not wanting to get the 5150 stolen. But if you're looking SS, you need 150 watts for it to even be close to 50 watts tube (just using it as a comparison). A 50 watt SS amp won't have enough to push you over the drums unless you mic up.
Look at a power conditioner first. Those kind of voltage issues in the clubs will kill any amp.
Get an outlet tester and check the outlets at every place you play for proper wiring. If it's not right, don't plug in. Plain and simple.
If the grounding isn't sufficient, there should be regulation laws there (not sure if there are any at all really) about such things.

so, how much costs one of those power conditioners? Is a Furmann an exmaple of a power conditioner?
but i have other problem(not a real problem, i can use a 110/220 conversor I GUESS) but the amp is 110 , and all the voltage where i live, is 220 volts.
so, i believe theres no power conditioner for 220 .

I think a better idea would be to get a Mesa V-Twin pedal for pre-amp, a Crate Power Block for power amp, and use your cab (how can someone get away with stealing a 4x12 cab unless you're drunk and passed out?).. you can always tuck the V-twin and the power block in their little cases.. great tone and portability for under 500 US dollars retail (neglecting the cab, whichever one you may already own)
