Surprisingly the clean channel is VERY good.
The overdrive channel is good too if you put the treble VERY low.

An amp where the distortion doesn't sound like junk. Some real crunch.

and, I could get a Shiva if I sold some stuff off. Only thing is, I covet some of the things I have at the moment.
Although its not related to this post - I have fallen in love with MIDI on guitars.
Yeah, all Marshalls are different.Matt Blackett said:I agree that the 401 has an amazing clean channel. The EL84's make it bright (in a good way) and chimey. I haven't found the dirty channel to be overly bright, however. Mine actually sounds best with the gain, treble, mid, and bass controls all the way up. Go figure. Marshalls all sound different.
Another great and very pedal-friendly clean channel is on my Rivera M100. Gorgeous clean sound and a righteous dirty channel.
Rock on, brotha :smokin: I like to dime the clean channel too.suislidE03 said:http://www.kashaamplifiers.com/soundclips.html

Oh yea, and the DSL 401 does sound wicked on the clean chan. I dimed it all the time and it sounded great for blues, i wont forget that amp.
