Best Fender Strat replica manufacturer?

I've read lots about how it's sure not Fender today.
Is it Tokai......or G&L? What make/model...............talking about guitars still made today (2013 productions). Who makes the best fender replicas?

what do you mean by best?

there are a whole bunch of manufacturers that qualify, depending on how much you want to spend.

I'm here! Staying on plan to build a few Warmoth kits and use SD Zephyrs for each. Trying to deliver on promise to share vidz of how each sound (and maybe play some of my favorite scales for you guys LOL). If okay I'll be asking more questions about installation and of course some small part selections/choices. 2 strats (one with all single coils and one with two humbuckers) and 1 tele (all using the intended zephyr pickups).

I'll try and send in pics as I'm assembling each one. Going to try the auto tuners from tonic also.

Thanks to strong advice as I shared in another post, instead of one custom shop guitar I'm able to make 3 for the same price and even have quality at the level of SD zephyr in each guitar.

One question is where should i get the guitar cases for these guitars from? I looked at fender but as always, answers from this group usually have lots of thought and experience behind them. In my profession the jabs and jokes and shots are a way of life and don't bother me (some good ones!).....getting great sound and fun out of my guitars is most important. So where can i get those cases? :-)

Any other advice is appreciated. Trying to find a hum cancelling device that will fit rear route/entry Warmoth strats/teles.....Ilich doesn't seem to make that one model. Their "non-tremolo" isn't it unfortunately. The guy in charge asked for pics..........sent them......haven't heard back from him so doubt they will adjust for a Warmoth model......way too bad, would like to do what I can to reduce the hum on the single coil strat and was also told by SD that there is/could be hum on the zeph single coils. Thanks for any help you can throw in!

Jeremy, (or anyone), are there a set of strings you think will work best on Zephyrs? Will have one set of each of the three so if that makes a difference would appreciate knowing that too.

By the way, very nice guitar CTN. Don't have your skill or experience and hoping the darn instructions will get me there since the kits are supposed to be more finished than what you had to start with. Really nice work you did and look forward to seeing final product when you receive your guitar back!

Fender Custom Shop if you must have a Fender Headstock.

There's a lot of other boutique makers that make replicas (sans headstock) up to makers that make a more polished version. LSL and Danocaster come to mind. Suht and Tom Anderson if you want an improved version.

Ron Kirn is a good intersection of price and quality. He starts at $1650, and will make you literally anything.

Details like countersunk routs for the neck plate are a good example if why he's a respected builder.

+1 on Ron Kirn. If I had the money, I think I would want one of his. He starts right from raw wood. A lot of hand finishing. Very nice stuff.

I'm a huge fan of G&L. I currently have 18 of them...one is an ASAT Deluxe but the rest are Legacys, S-500s, Comanches and Legacy Specials.

For value, nothing beats the USA-made G&Ls, unless your budget is limited--then you should look at the Tribute imports.

I used to own a vintage 1960 Strat, and honestly, my Legacy-bodies are better guitars in every way.

And remember, G&L is Leo Fender's last company. I'd argue these guitars are more Fender than the current offerings with the Fender label.

And with the wide range of models with different pickups, colors and neck dimensions, G&L is a custom shop. Unless I would spend a boatload of money, there's really nothing Fender makes that I'm interested in.

Anderson or Shur would be my choice. Yes they are pricey but great sounding and playing guitars

Actually, it all depends on features.

I bought a new built to order Classic S last year - no bling bling, but got a roasted/torrefied neck and SSCII for significantly under what I could get your garden variety Fender Custom Shop Strat new.

If you want a "Strat" for a great price that annihilates a Fender try a Carvin Bolt. And you can pick hardware/wood, etc options if you want.
