Best passive humbucker?

Hey guys, I have a mahogany body guitar that I will be modifying. I am only going to have a bridge humbucker and was wondering what would be best for metal, punk, and also some classic rock. Thanks in advance.

there's plenty good ones, seymour duncan distortion might be a good point to start looking at, you will enjoy it. I had it in my mahogany les paul and it sounded killer for metal and the other styles you mentioned

Too many...there's no real "type" I like either. I like them to sound different..but always with (at least) medium to high output. Variety is the spice of life.. ;)

Having said that..I'm pretty partial to my Lace Alumitone Deathbucker's & set of handwound Sin "7th Sin" alnico 4 pup's ..sweet tones!

first of all, there's no best of the best humbucker, there will always be one wich can do something better than other pickup.

that said, for what you want you have quite some options, it's just wich of the many tastes you preffer and if you're more comfortable boosting the gain, adding overdrives, playing with the vol or switching chanels.

if you're on the vintage paf flavour you can take a Pearly Gates Bridge, it will get you done easily, the only paf i can assure you can behave with good tone from the sweetiest ruddest blues to brütal metal if your amp has gain enough

the sh-6 Distortion is a solid choice, metal and punk are it's home and it has no problem doing classic rock

the JB will do too, it's sightly lower ouput than the distortion and has a singing voice compared to the grinding sound of the distortion

the Black Winter it's like a modern distortion, with a balanced tone, clearer mids and the same agression if not more

That's like asking what's the best pair of sneakers are. It depends on the rest of the outfit.

That being said, it's hard to go wrong with an SH5 Custom for what you're asking. Try one of those.

a zebra one? lol.....

Sorry, I wasn't trying to sound like a smartass, but that's a rather tough question.
