Re: Best shredder

Nobody has mentioned Andy LaRocque and Pete Blakk of King Diamond yet? Some of my favorite solos of all time come from those early King Diamond albums.

Re: Best shredder

Debate about this kinda topic is always tough. I love Satch but Criss Oliva is also one of my all time faves; he had some terrifyingly beatiful phrasing and some damn stylish solos.

No presents for Christmas? Haha
I love King Diamond and Mercyful Fate, they are one of my fav bands and I have all of their stuff.
Mike Wead who replaced Pete Blakk was an awesome guitarist, as well as Mike Moon and Michael Denner...

There's so many real shredders that were not mentioned and some of the choices that are available are rather suspect to say the least, but it's all in good fun and good conversation.

Re: Best shredder

I'd say Jason Becker. He was undoubtedly one of the most skilled shredders ever. I feel he easily surpassed guys like Satch and Vai, possibly even Malmsteen and MAB, or at least matched-up with them very well. He had so much skill and technicality as a teenager. It's a shame he came down with ALS, he could've gotten much better than he already was.
