Re: Best Tube Combo For $1900

Don't need to wish for this item because I already own these combos

1) Holland - Little Jimi
2) Celtic - Franklin
3) Fender - a) Deluxe Reverb b) Super Reverb
4) Marshall - (Original) Bluesbreaker and Reissue Bluesbreaker
5) Vox - (1966) AC30 (But not the top boost)
6) 18 watt - Home made killer tone machine

Re: Best Tube Combo For $1900

I would get either a BF or SF Deluxe Reverb with a JBL. Or a Victoria Tweed Deluxe, or maybe their Champ clone with a twelve inch speaker.

Re: Best Tube Combo For $1900

If I had $1900 to spend on a tube combo, I'd be calling up Bruce at Mission Amps and getting myself an Aurora. Then I'd take the rest and get some biasing tools that he sells as well.

I will own one, things have been a little challenging for a while. Once I can, I'll be calling him for one.

Best is such a broad term with this stuff. Best for you will be different than best for me. Good luck in your search.

Egnater Mod 50, although you'll probably have to wait for one. Other choices are the Shiva or Mark IV. The Mod 50 is amazing and you can swap out different pre amp modules for different tones. A step up from the Randall stuff.

Re: Best Tube Combo For $1900

give a rivera quiana a spin if you can ... i bet you can get in one new for that .. or used with room to spare

Re: Best Tube Combo For $1900

I would get a Victoria amp. All of their amps are excellent. I have the Victorilux. It may be hard to get one for $1,900, you might have to spend a little more.

Re: Best Tube Combo For $1900

Anything by Celtic or Splawn. I myself am an EL84 guy so the EL84 celtics appear to me or maybe a mesa lonestar special.

Re: Best Tube Combo For $1900

I love my Mark IV and I recommend it to anyone who's looking for the ultimate in versatility.

However,....

If you have a short attention span, a low-frustration tolerance level, or simply want to "plug and play"--this amp is not for you.

A better recording amp than a live amp, though I use mine live. There are settings on this thing I've never used.

When you find the right settings for YOU, it's a glorious sounding amp.

Good Luck.

Bill

Mark IV. As long as people use guitar amps there will be Mark IVs. If you've taken the time to swap multiple pickups into one guitar, you won't have a problem with the tweaking or the learning curve with the Mark IV. It's a very rewarding amp for those on a Tone Quest.
