Best Univibe pedal?

Re: Best Univibe pedal?

I have one of these and I have to agree with you. I will say that at $325, it is beyond the spending limit of about 95% of the SDUGF. This isn't The Gear Page, after all.

The OP asked for the BEST, not for the best for a price X.
I don't like the price of the Machine Vibe but, Roger Mayer's unit isn't cheap neither Fulltone's one, also.

That's the one I have too (I blame you entirely for that btw). Very nice made and sounds exactly the way I think a vibe should.

Re: Best Univibe pedal?

I've tried the Fulltone Deja (MBV-2? the one with the treadle), Voodoo Labs Micro Vibe, Foxrox Aqua and Provibe, Lovepedal Pickle, Roger Mayer VooDoo Vibe, and the Castledine Supa Vibe and the Castledine was the clear winner to me. It's the only one that factors in the Cancel function and that's no small thing IMO. The Mayer was a very close second - it also has tremolo, FWIW - you get a lot in that box and all of the effects sound great.

I think the reason why I liked those two best were that there was no fighting against the 'drop out' at the bottom of the sweep - they are very liquid sounding and have a natural feeling attack when you hit them. Everything else was a bit of a struggle - either felt too hard or too padded, or was too limited or finicky in it's control functions, or just plain sounded like a phaser instead of a proper vibe. The only downsides to both are their sizes (both pedals are pretty huge) and their prices, but you certainly get what you pay for with both IMO.
