ok so this is my theory. ive noticed all of my cheaper strats, all put a lot of vibration into the body of the guitar, if you hold it on the lower bout and hit a string you will feel it on all of them.
the american ones put much less vibration thru the body of the guitar
the american guitars have a larger trem block vs the MIM's
the theory is that the smaller blocks absorb less vibration energy, so there is more going "past" the block into the body. the big block will tend to keep the vibration in the strings.
so if i took a cheapie strat, and put a big block in it, it'll go from being really live FEELING to really dead FEELING, but should have more sustain, because the string energy stays in the strings?
comments? questions?
