Birthday guitar

A couple of years ago I decided that I wanted a guitar for my 40th birthday and had the great idea that anyone could chip in thus getting me something that I probably couldn't really afford on my own.

Yesterday was my 40th and we had a little party at my mums and what came out was a large wrapped present with lots of tags on it from everyone who'd contributed. It was really nicely done and under the wrapping and inside a box with richtone music stickers on was a hard shell case containing one Charvel pro mod so-cal style 1 in red.
It was a top present... arguably the best birthday present I've ever had. There was even a break down of which part of the guitar everyone had contributed towards.
My mum even made a cake with a guitar on it... unfortunately she's a bit too good at that kinda stuff so I knew what was in the box before I opened it, but the cake was yummy.

I supposed you'll all want a photo... so here it is.

Not really had time to play it much yet and it needs new strings and a bit of a set up but it even straight from the box it sounds a plays pretty good, not sure about the dimarzios mind, especially the bridge so that may get swapped out for a C5 or a JB at some point.

my Wife's Canadian based Aunt and Uncle also got me some guitar pics :)

I may well be past it, but I'm very happy with it :)

Re: Birthday guitar

Very cool. Birthdays that end in Zero are cool. Much to celebrate about, made it another decade!

It's a guitar you can never sell no matter how tempted you might be in a few years.

Yes indeed. I now have four that I can't sell for various reasons.
My Ibanez SA as my now wife bought it for me on a whim when we first started dating. My Tokai LP as it belonged to my sisters late boyfriend, my ibanez SR700 bass as my wife (who is the best wife in the world) bought it for me while I was unemployed, and now my so-cal.

Must say the trem seems a tad cheap in feel. maybe it just needs some mad dive bombs to losen it up :)

And thanks to all of you for birthday wishes... I would have posted on the day but I was a tad busy eating cake and playing my new toy.
