Blackout bridge pickup dead

So.. I've had my blackouts not even for 2 years and now the god damn bridge pickup stopped working.. I've tried it on 2 of my guitars. No sound. How the hell can that happen??

Re: Blackout bridge pickup dead

Yep. Changed battery. Tried it on my other esp aswell. The neck pickup works, but not the bridge.. I shouldn't be that upset considering I got the blackouts for free, but it's annoying as hell..Like wtf??

Re: Blackout bridge pickup dead

Very odd, but always possible when dealing with electronics. I'd reach out to SD and see if they can help (probably not, but worth a shot...assuming you can reach someone)

Re: Blackout bridge pickup dead

Yeah ill see what i can do.. A used one is like 50 and i got the whole ahb1 set for free anyway. Ill give it a couple of more shots again..

Re: Blackout bridge pickup dead

So i checked the pins with my multimeter.. I get signal from the pins, but nothing thru the gtr.. I've tried the pickup in 2 different guitars. Nothing. No signal. But all other pickups work.. ****ed up situation.

Re: Blackout bridge pickup dead

Try the bridge pickup connected to the neck electronics. If there really is a a problem contact us here for an RMA number (links at the bottom of the homepage) , send it in and we will see if it can be fixed.

Re: Blackout bridge pickup dead

Did it all of a sudden stop working, or did you pull it out to do something to your guitar and put it back in and it hasn't worked since?

It was working fine until sunday the 21/2 and when i picked up that gtr a couple of days later it was stone dead, while the neck p/u was working..

Re: Blackout bridge pickup dead

That sucks. Did you leave it close to a power outlet or anything?

I tried it again. It doesnt work in bridge position at all, but I get a very tiny amount of signal/sound thru the neck position..

Re: Blackout bridge pickup dead

Yup, the same thing happened to me once. If I remember correctly, I contacted SD and sent the pickup back to them and they replaced it with a new Blackout. See if you can do that.

Have you checked the wiring? Check every single connection, especially those that carry the "hot" signal. To quickly check if it is a wiring issue or pickup issue, wire the bridge pickup straight to the jack. White goes to tip, bare goes to sleeve, red to the 9v+/9v- to ring. check for continuity of all connections with a multi meter. Also, make sure you're using a cable that is known to work flawlessly.

Also, does the guitar have separate volume controls for each pickup? If so, it could be just the bridge volume potentiometer going bad. Or if the pickup leads go to the selector switch first, it could be a faulty switch/bad contacts.

Nah.it's not. All other p/u's are working fine but that one.

Re: Blackout bridge pickup dead

Contact SD and send it back. It is worth fixing and figuring out what went wrong.

Re: Blackout bridge pickup dead

It doesn't say exactly on the website (Something else to fix!), but from a post on the forum SD pickups are warrantied for 5 years against defects.

Since a Blackout would *definitely* show abuse if someone meddled with it, as long as it's less than 5 years old they should swap it for you.
