Blackout Modular Preamp

Re: Blackout Modular Preamp

Cheers, also does any body have a wiring set up for a PRS as the pickups go into the rotary switch before the volume pot but all the wiring diagrams I can find on the Seymour Duncan site have the pickups going into the BMP-1 first. Should I take the output of the rotary switch and treat it as a single pickup?

Hello, I am looking for the answer to this older question. I replaces my HFS pickup in my Custom 24 with a JB, but I just ran my SD Blackout loaded guitar into my modded Mesa Rectoverb and it sounded GREAT! I want to get the same tone for my PRS but not gut the guitar with Blackout pickups, so the BMP-1 system would be perfect.

I haven't seen any other people doing this with PRS guitars, but I would like to try it.

Wiring for PRS Custom 24 with rotary Switch and BMP-1?

Thanks in Advance.

Not gonna happen so easily. The BMP1 cant handle coil splits in the normal way. Each coil is fed into one side of the preamp and the 2 sides dont sound the same. One side sound okish the other sounds kinda dull and meh, its when the are combined that the magic is at. Normally the BMP1 is placed BEFORE your switch to try and do the splits you have to put the switch before the bmp1. For me it always turned into a spaghetti mess. Wound up just adding a small 3 way toggle to lift one coil before it hit the preamp but you may not want to drill your guitar for one.

This is why you dont see people doing splits with the BMP1s If you swapped your rotary for a normal 3 way the bmp1 falls into place no problem.
