I only played one of the smaller ID series with TVP, and I didn't get to play with it long, but the TVP switch was something that I fiddled with until I found the sound I liked then didn't have an urge to mess with it! I didn't feel the changes in tube type emulations to be that dramatic at bedroom volume.
I like the mustang series, it does good fender tones! I have played a Mustang I Deluxe Reverb setting through my Supersonic 22 cab, and A/B'd it with the Supersonic's own clean channel, heavily Deluxe Reverb based. The mustang lacks some liveliness, sparkle, and shimmer, but the general flavor was the same.
The british sounds on it are just OK, go for the blackstar if you want a lot of crunchy rock tones
