Re: BLOG: My WEEKLY Metal/Rock/Classic/Doom Recordings:

Cool deal. Much healthier than my current state!

Re: BLOG: My WEEKLY Metal/Rock/Classic/Doom Recordings:

I don't think I've ever heard anything of yours that I didn't like.

Re: BLOG: My WEEKLY Metal/Rock/Classic/Doom Recordings:

Best forum evah!!! I recorded a new one, this one mixed in a little SLUDGE with a little DOOM ;) I have been listening to High On Fire, Electric Wizard, and Black Sabbath quite a bit lately, so those influences come out some in this song. Take a listen if you dare, cheers :beerchug:

Re: BLOG: My WEEKLY Metal/Rock/Classic/Doom Recordings:

That was really cool. The chorus riff could use a little something to give it some movement ... maybe doubled with an octave? Then again, what do I know lol? Not my song!! :)

Thoroughly enjoyed it!!

I was inspired mainly by this new Electric Wizard new song called "I am Nothing":

Will check this out tonight, provided work is not a total bloodbath !!

Re: BLOG: My WEEKLY Metal/Rock/Classic/Doom Recordings:

ok, no worries if you cant check it out, this one is my least favorite and I spent only an hour writing/recording, prolly should have kept this one to myself

Re: BLOG: My WEEKLY Metal/Rock/Classic/Doom Recordings:

sorry dude, did not mean to do that, I never shoulda posted that one. I make various recordings I dont upload to soundcloud and that was one of em, oopsies. sorry for the mixup. Looking forward to your new album Twilight Odyssey! your last one was pretty spectacular I must say; I admit to listening to it some on soundcloud last night ;)

Re: BLOG: My WEEKLY Metal/Rock/Classic/Doom Recordings:

Thanks so much for the kind words! I am VERY excited about the new album. Definitely raises the bar over the previous one and I hope I hit the mark! Collaborating with some very talented session people on this one ...

Re: BLOG: My WEEKLY Metal/Rock/Classic/Doom Recordings:

I was not implying your mix was bad by any stretch, my man. Just, to my mind, mixing is something else. If EZMix can help give your songs the polish it needs, then more power to ya and right on, I say. However, I would hope that it's the launching point to experiment with less presets and more experimentation with actual mixing techniques.

As long as it doesn't take away any appreciation towards a mix like that attained with no EZ plugins at all. In a sense, I would be crushed if people where underwhelmed by my many months long mixes because they assume "there's programs for that now".

Fantastic sound, if you could just let a bit more room in there for the cymbals and drums to come through a bit better.

Re: BLOG: My WEEKLY Metal/Rock/Classic/Doom Recordings:

Thanks Much Demanic for the listen and the feedback! :beerchug:

Here is a slow slow soulful doom tune I just wrote and recorded:

I quad-tracked all the rythym guitars so that they are super thick.

I took Twilight's last advice and put a doubled octave type high note guitar on the chorus riff

I took Demanic's advice and put a bit more cymbal volume and drums in :)

Re: BLOG: My WEEKLY Metal/Rock/Classic/Doom Recordings:

I just wrote and recorded this new tune, it is CLASSIC ROCK with a bit of blues and swing, and a decently long guitar solo:

Re: BLOG: My WEEKLY Metal/Rock/Classic/Doom Recordings:

Nice groove on that one!

Very cool my friend, thanks so much for the listen :) it has does have that groove, kind of jazzy backbeat swing.

Dankstar put up a link to the 1970s band "Leaf hound" which sounds like Led Zeppelin. I have listened five of their songs a lot and also to the new band "California Breed".

so that stuff rubbed off on me for my most recent original song :) I wonder if the next song I make will be metal, doom, classic rock, or ??? hmmm... I dunno. prolly should try to figure out my videocamera to link songs up to my guitar playingz on the youtOOb, that seems to be the latest and greatest thing to do :)
