That last one reminded me of Trower but super heavy.

Re: BLOG: My WEEKLY Metal/Rock/Classic/Doom Recordings:

Thanks so much for the listen J E C! :) I dig, Trower is good stuff :beerchug:

Trower "Bridge of Sighs":

Re: BLOG: My WEEKLY Metal/Rock/Classic/Doom Recordings:

Trower is best known for Bridge Of Sighs, but some of his best work was with Procol Harum.

Re: BLOG: My WEEKLY Metal/Rock/Classic/Doom Recordings:

Ya, I really like Trower as well. Have definitely not listened to him enough. I saw him play in a little dive **** hole in Eugene, probably around 1988 or so. Great show. Then I saw him play at the RoseLand in Portland about 2 years ago on his 67th Birthday. Amazing show!
You guys keep posting recordings and I'll keep listening and enjoying. Would like to record some stuff too. Not sure how to go about it though.

Re: BLOG: My WEEKLY Metal/Rock/Classic/Doom Recordings:

Easier than ever nowadays. If you are a Mac person you can start w Garage Band.

Re: BLOG: My WEEKLY Metal/Rock/Classic/Doom Recordings:

ya its easy to record stuff, I found it helpful in assembling ideas and getting better technically as well, by recording stuff over the last 6 years. Go for it dude, cheers :beerchug: If you are on a PC then check out Reaper which is 30 days free, thats what I use as a DAW: http://www.reaper.fm/

Here is my recording I finished this week, it is modern melodic downtuned rock:

For this song I used 3-finger fingerpicking on my bass guitar. I usually use a pick and I do not notice much sonic difference really. but 3-finger is fun so I will prolly keep doing it :)

Re: BLOG: My WEEKLY Metal/Rock/Classic/Doom Recordings:

That was really cool how you held that last note in the first solo

thanks brutha!

I gotta say I got that idea from you cause about 3 years ago you said I should put a lot of delay and let my last note of my solo trail off into the next riff/verse ;) I dig your feedback, see I learn and incorporate into my sonic palate :D

Re: BLOG: My WEEKLY Metal/Rock/Classic/Doom Recordings:

wow, that's crazy. hopefully I'm not the only one that digs it then, haha!

the lead tone reminds me of some stuff on in flames' jester race album. maybe not just the tones but the key/scale choices. do you know if it's major or minor or what scales you were hovering around? I dig that vibe.

haha!!!

I used certain modes of the major, minor, and a tiny bit of harmonic minor; I usually just hover around aeolian, ionian and phrygian. In flames? cool :) That album has some really melodic extreme stuff.
